"Bad experience!"

After reading other reviews & I thought what a great price for an ok hotel. I sent my parents there thinking that 3 stars is fine but they told me that the room was filthy! Thank God they only had to stay for several days!

"Venetian Hostel"

2.0

Although the venetian hostel has a good location, the condition of the bad. The towels they provide have holes and beds have bugs that will make your skin itchy. The TV is in a bad condition, only one channel can be seen properly. This is the worst hostel ever in my whole life, I will never book this hostel ever again, now i have skin problems after staying there.

"Very good location, singular place to stay."

6.0

The first thing, if you are used to the word "Hotel", you must have in mind that this is an "Hostel" I mean, I realize now that this word implies adventure. With this in mind I can say that the Hostel is in an old building, there is no lobby or something like that, the main entry to building is not nice in any sense. Once in the room, small in superlative way, obviously need maintenance in various aspects, very noisy. Pros- Very good location (Golden Mile in Nathan Road, immediately Tsim Sha Tsui MTR), safe place, you can leave with confidence the Lap in the room (just advice in advance to the Front Desk), private bathroom, you can ask for an extracleaning process to the service personnel (extra money of course). So I can recomend the place for the Pros, just have in consideration that this is not an "Hotel" and the price is very good if you get in mind that we are talking about Hong Kong.

"Better than others for this price"

8.0

The lady at reception was nice, efficient and cute! The hotel location is VERY convenient, right on Nathan Road, right in the heat of Tsim Sha Tsui. The room was small, but it had an attached toilet/shower room with hot water (except early in the morning when everyone else is also taking a shower). Everything was clean, the linens were changed daily, and the place was quite considering its location in Tsim Sha Tsui. When I asked to borrow an iron, she made one available to me, although I had to go her (or someone else's) apartment to use it. They also did my laundry for me, although you can probably have it done cheaper elsewhere; and she doesn't iron. For cheap hostel-style place to stay, the Venetian is very decent. The things that matter to me--cleanliness, reasonable service, a decent night's sleep- were there. I recommend this hotel if you're willing to put up with travel up and down 14 floors, and small rooms.

"You get what you pay for"

6.0

You should be clear that this hostel together with all other hostels in the same building provides you with a place to spend the night - and nothing more. Words do not describe the building this hostel is in. You enter into a passageway at the bottom with lots of little shops that sell fake iPhones and the like. There are a couple of lifts of which you should take the one that stops at the floor you want to got to. "14/F" means 14th floor by the way. Once the lift gets you up there, a sign might direct you one floor down for checkin - that's what happened to me. Since no lift stops at all floors, you either go back down and back up or use the dirty staircase. The rooms are scattered around the building, my room was on floor 7. The building has a big atrium in the middle and each floor's corridor wraps around fully. The corridors resemble little streets. There are little shops and lots of apartments and plenty of hostel rooms everywhere. People hang laundry and air conditioning machines wherever they see fit. There is lots of dirt. Notices remind people to not steal the fluorescent light bulbs. The (single) room I got had a bed and next to it 50cm of space. Also a TV mounted above the bed and a tiny shelve. Behind the bed was a sliding shower door separating the "bathroom" with a shower, toilet and sink. There was a tiny space to stand between sink and toilet when having a shower, toilet and sink naturally get wet when having a shower. The room only had a tiny window with a window fan that was not to the outside but some chimney-type space. No natural light whatsoever. It seemed like there was a leak in the plumbing above my "bathroom" because it was pouring down water at times. I went to the reception and did my best to explain the situation to the Chinese lady. She came and had a look - to then offer me a towel as remedy. After some discussion I was put into another room. This was a two bed room with (compared to the single room) ample space and a big window to the street. The bathroom was similar to the previous room - this time with the caveat that the sink drain was broken and drained directly on the floor which isn't a big deal since the floor has the shower sink. Security seems ok, every set of rooms has one main door to the "flat" and another door to the room. My first room opened with a swipe card, for the second I got a physical key. You get provided with a towel and bed linen and a blanket. There is AC in the rooms which is badly needed in the Hongkong hot-humid weather. The internet password is posted on a note in the corridor and the internet is reasonably fast. While the entire building is in a pretty sorry state I did not perceive it as unhygienic - definitely no cockroaches or the like. If you want to have some fun take the stairs down one day and walk around some of the other floors. There are little barber shops and sewing shops everywhere and the creativity with which the people who live there improve their lives is surprising.
