Les Gens De Mer La Rochelle

This hotel is attractive and very well placed. The old harbour is five minutes walk away as is the aquarium and there is a car park at the hotel with an allocated place so no worries about going out and finding a place on your return. It is good value and I would definitely stop there again. The only down side is the breakfast which was one of the poorest breakfasts we've ever had in France - there was nothing to eat! There was cheap bread and cheap supermarket croissants, a few slices of cheap tinned ham which were hidden under a lidded dish and when found and taken were replaced, on request, with another four or five slices to feed the entire room. There was a bit of cheap cheese, highlight was Baby Bel, and one day even that wasn't there so I had to ask for some. The lady gave me a Baby Bel and didn't put any more on the buffet table. There was stacks of natural yogurt but fruit yogurts also seemed to be on ration. Having said that the staff were friendly and I did like the hotel and will return, but I really wish they'd do something about the breakfasts!

Lovely stay at the hotel. Friendly staff, although with my French and their English we did get our wires crossed now and again. ! Room was a good size and we had a balcony. It cleaned every day and fresh towels. Breakfast was typical Continental buffet style, as much as you wanted to eat. Couldn't fault anything and would definitely use again. Very close to all the sights so great for wandering about at night.

We liked the position of the hotel. Close to the centre and restaurants. The parking was tight , but very reasonable. Staff excellent.

This was a really lovely hotel, really clean. Great family room for our two kids with a little upstairs room in the hotel. The staff were really helpful when when our bank card got swallowed up by a bank machine. The only issue we had was with Expedia who had said we would have breakfast included but when she showed us the details she received breakfast was not included.

The hotel was conveniently located near to the old town, and an easy place to stay in La Rochelle. Near the train station made parking really easy. The people who work at the hotel are very friendly and helpful.

First time at Les Gens La Rochelle recommended by friends. Found it a very clean and tidy Hotel. There was work going on in the reception area but this did not spoil our stay. We were there for a soft tip dart competition and will definitely stay here next year.

so tell is extremely close to the train station one short block away. However tosyl close to the water. there also coffee shops and a lot of shopping across the street. The hotel itself is fairly upscale. Everything has a nautical theme. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. only complaints : no hot water maker in the room and the heater was not turned on and I couldn't figure out how to use it

A very comfortable hotel with helpful, friendly staff. We were fortunate to have a room with a balcony and could enjoy a drink al fresco. We didn't have breakfast as we needed to catch an early train. As the rail station was a 2 minute walk away this was a perfect location. It is also walking distance to the old harbour with stunning views, bars and restaurants. Comfortable room and not noisy despite being on a main road. Would recommend.
