Hotel La Casona Real

A great property off the main strip, at a very reasonable price. And, walking distance to supermarket, restaurants, and other amenities, though nothing fancy. The staff is first class.

Staff and location is great, 5 minutes to the main square walking.

Hotel is next to two super loud and noisy bars which blast music almost all night until 3-5am. Bring earplugs otherwise you won't sleep. Also the room was quite small although ok.

The hotel is funky as one would expect from the photos. It looks like they are undergoing some renovations in the courtyard area. If you get a room facing 25th, the Cantina across is very loud until the wee hours of the morning. The bed and pillows were quite hard. The room was clean and the shower pressure was OK.

The staff was great. Ours was one of 2 or 3 rooms rented in the hotel. We got a nice room with a king bed and refrigerator on the inner courtyard. Thank goodness, the outer rooms would have been too noisy. The staff was great in finding us 2 pillows without feathers, however it would have been great to have a few more pillows in the king bed. The pool and pool area was nice. However, they were building a new stairway and the little time we wanted to use the pool the worker was too noisy grinding the cement block for us to enjoy it. I was dramatically plugging my ears in hopes they would have him take a break, but no luck. We will go back. It was a good value to enjoy downtown after a scuba trip on the south end of the island. We love so many restaurants in St. Miguel. It was fun.

Modest hotel with breakfast service. Daily room cleaning. Enjoyed hanging out by the pool in the evening.

Pricing was unclear. I booked for a quoted price. Once I arrived at the hotel to pay cash, the amount was higher.

Beds were comfy, and the room was clean. It’s a short walk from the centre but we were happy to be away from the noise. It had a fridge which was so useful but no safe. They did offer a safe in reception. Our door’s handle was so dodgy and found it difficult to lock/open. Didn’t feel safe to be honest but nothing happened.

Breakfast is included in the price quoted on booking.com and was very tasty and substantial. Breakfast is serve in a very pleasant area close to the pool and under a palapa. This was the best thing about the hotel.

The hotel is 4 or 5 blocks from the ferry area, so the walk may be a little far for senior citizens or the disabled. We were there in February so the climate was relatively cool. But in the summer season it will be a very hot walk from the ferry.

Great staff. Best breakfast I’ve had at any hotel. Location was ideal.

Room was tired. Room had view of maintenance closet and stairs.
