Hampton Inn Colby

It was clean and quiet

This Hampton Inn was just off Interstate 70 on the east side of town by the Pilot service plaza. It was new, clean, had the best beds, good lighting and tile floors... no carpet. There was plenty of counter space in the bathroom, good lighting, but no place to hang towels. A great little shelf was under the mirror in the bathroom and was handy for the small stuff. Highly recommend this for a stop in a clean little western Kansas town.

This is a good quality inn, close to the interstate, with very nice rooms. It's a short drive to several restaurants. Breakfast came up a little short. Food containers weren't filled when we got there, and we never did get sausage. We were told that an employee "didn't come in." I replied that I was in. They weren't overly concerned.

Arrived and was checked into our king room. Could not get in the room because the security latch was flipped from inside and we could not open the door. (They said this happens all the time when the door slams too hard??) The young man at the front desk tried to open it but could not get us in. We agreed to a queen, he put us in a single queen! Back to the desk...do you have a double queen? Third time was a charm. In the meantime, there was another client who could not get into her room and another with ac not working. Then a man arrived mad because no one answered the phone so that he could book a room. The young man at the front desk was very frazzled and his language was unprofessional. We were tired from driving all day and it took over 45 minutes from time of arrival until we got into our room. The room was small but it was clean. The breakfast was good and we went on down the road. Not a good experience.

Reception was fine, but not of the high friendly standards typically of a Hampton. The room was small, but as shown in pictures for a queen bed. I could hear noise from hall, adjoining rooms and above more than typical for Hampton. Air condition fan was very noisy.
