West Cork Hotel

Loved the decor - does it date from the 1900s? The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious. Excellent breakfast.

Breakfast included was very good. Staff were friendly.

Room was a little older, but beds were comfortable and room was clean - shower was bizarre set up (taps were outside of the bath/shower) and not ideal. Hard to open window as it looked inward onto other parts of the hotel, including extractor fans etc. Also, door was locked unusually early (11pmish) with no key or no access from the outside for guests i.e. had to call on and wait for a night porter to get in to hotel.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff. I had breakfast, which was lovely. The Skibbereen Heritage centre is directly across the road and definitely worth a visit. I would absolutely return.

Great staff - evening bartender and morning breakfast host were friendly and helpful. Front desk attendant tried to make the best of a bad situation. The bed was adequate so at the very least I was able to get a night's sleep.

I stayed at the West Cork Hotel last September and very much enjoyed it. The room I stayed in then was clean, comfortable, and nicely updated and I planned on making this hotel my go-to spot for future trips through Skibbereen. Unfortunately, this most recent stay was a vastly different experience. Despite having made my reservation several months in advance, the hotel apparently lost my booking as my name was not on the reservation list when I arrived. After roughly 10 minutes of the front desk staff scrambling to accommodate me, I was placed in a tiny room that appeared to be the only one on the property that hasn't been updated since the 1980s. I've stayed in hostels that provided better quarters. The bathroom had cracked tiles, particle-board cabinets, and broken fixtures. The room smelled musty, the furniture was water-stained, the carpet was grimy, and the curtains were so worn they were literally threadbare in places. The room I received that evening was nowhere near the standard presented in the West Cork Hotel's official photos. I find it incredibly difficult to believe that anyone at this hotel could reasonably consider this room comparable in quality to their other rooms on offer. At the very least, I would have expected the hotel to acknowledge the obvious disparity in quality by offering some form of discounted rate, but no such gesture was made. Given that I clearly cannot count on receiving a room commensurate with the expected nightly rate, I no longer have any intention of returning to this hotel in the future.

The staff were really helpful.

The superior room looked over industrial plant which was very noisy and running all night which made it difficult to sleep.
