"Good Hotel, Nice Service, Big Room. Kind of Cold"

8.0

Very nice experience provided by a nice helpful staff and good rooms. Good cook but not good & original ingredients (a pity). To improve the temperate in the rooms. But a place to recommend for a family.

"Excellent"

8.0

Very large spacious rooms and the grounds were beautiful. The negative would be that it's a smaller hotel (only ~20 rooms) and the restaurant often feels empty and doesn't offer fast/light menu options like a sandwich. The nearest restaurant was a 15 min walk.

"True, unexpected luxury (disregard the 3.5 stars rating shown on tripadvisor)"

10.0

The hotel is located 15 minutes walk from the center of town, on a street where you would not expect to see any hotel. Once you reach the gate however you immediately realise why it is the most expensive hotel in town. It could be easily a Belmond or an Amanresort - only the level of staffing is lower. The property occupies a large landscaped land, tastefully peppered with beautiful sculptures. The suites (and suites they are) are spacious and beautifully designed. The restaurant is really good. It is a matter of taste, but if you like to retreat to a little paradise after site seeing, forgetting about the traffic and crowds of San Cristobal, this is your place.

"You can find a bunch of better options in San Cristobal"

2.0

I am a regular traveler to San Cristobal, and I enjoy trying out new options, so believe me when I say I know what I’m talking about: this hotel doesn’t worth the price. I don’t recommend it at all. This is a pretentious hotel that doesn’t fulfill the expectation. Check in: the attention at the front desk was very poor, at my arrival they just gave me my room key and told me they had already processed my check in (they didn’t show me the card charge or any price). They didn’t provided information about WiFi, location or additional services or support to get around the city. Stay: the room is nicely furnished, but the ventilation from the shower is very poor, so you can feel and smell the humidity resulted from it. Restaurant service was slow, everyone looks like if they are new and don’t know how to use the systems. They have a trouble with the room keys, it seems every time a new guest arrives all the keys are restarted and you need to go to the front desk to get it fixed, and sometimes even that doesn’t work. Tv signal is poor, you barely can watch a thing. Check out: again, it seems staff is new or afraid of doing things. After having to bring other person to process my check out, they were unable to process in a same charge my accommodation an restaurant expenses; but in the final statement they showed them as one charge. They asked me to sign my check in receipt, since they hadn’t done it at that time, and the processed the check out, and didn’t gave me back the check in receipt. At the end, they didn’t even offer to help me with my luggage or to request a taxi for me. I had to carry my luggage by myself all the way to the street. Overall, poor service and terrible experience for a regular traveler. If you are planning a trip I would gladly recommend other places.

"Very chic home away from home"

8.0

Of the many hotels I stayed in and inspected during my 3 week researching a new tour of Mexico, this was my favourite. It is currently undergoing a major redevelopment of its former incarnation and the renovations of the old original buildings looks most promising and should be completed by the end of the year. I had a suite in the newly completed contemporary, purpose-built wing, designed by Julio Amezcua - supremely comfortable, spacious, quiet and private. The bed and linens were heaven. I specially loved the private courtyard and the interplay of rustic textures, the contemporary interior and furnishings, excellent WiFi. I have drawn attention to the fact there is no desk space and I expect management will amend this soon. Arturo the GM was an old school hotel manager - very attentive and very present. The distance from town was not an impediment and I enjoyed walking to the centre, though the immediate environs outside the hotel do not seem so prepossessing, I felt safe walking on my own. The gardens of the hotel and very substantial and peaceful. I did not dine in the restaurant but had a simple room service dinner which was well enough prepared though nothing to rave about. One would hope that attention will be given to the standard and quality of the food in the restaurant when the final wings open, as a hotel of this calibre certainly deserves an outstanding dining option.

"Gringos beware. "

8.0

Beautiful hotel. Great garden. Super atmosphere. A dream come true ? Almost, were it not for 1. at check-out time no staff speaking English was available to clarify issues with bill 2. two unmarked steps in the main room which easily can lead to injuries due to falls in an unfamiliar dark room However, would I stay again ? YES

"Better than Home"

10.0

Everything about this hotel stay is superb. The location (although not downtown, is better as it is very quiet) and a 15 minute walk or a very short (US$3.00) taxi ride to the hustle and bustle of the center of San Cristobal. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds are lush and the staff is excellent. I give this hotel an A+. I would not change a thing about this hotel.
