Burley House - Guest House

Apart from the bed being a bit firm for my taste, we enjoyed our stay. The place is clean and very well maintained, with pleasing décor and furniture. It's in a peaceful location on the edge of Capital City, but access to town was easy. We ate dinner twice at the guest house and I have rarely found such good food in Lilongwe - or anywhere in fact. I've stayed in q number of places in Lilongwe , including the Sunbird hotels, but will now choose to stay here. What made the stay particularly good were the staff. Malawians are by nature a friendly people, but the staff at Burley were faultless.

Adequate continental breakfast. Good dinners at reasonable price. Small, intimate B&B type atmosphere. Other guests were quite interesting international business people. Inn could benefit from some updating and maintenance. Room keys are difficult to use.

Burley House is a lovely "oasis" in Malawi's capital city with a staff who cater to your every need in a quiet and comfortable location. Food choices are limited but very tasty, and it's a great place to relax at a relatively reasonable price. Bit hard to find and lacks signage at the main road (M-1), but that's my only complaint. I always try to stay there when traveling to Malawi.

It was not my original plan to stay overnight in Lilongwe; however, my flight was cancelled and a place to stay was needed. After searching for a hotel for some time I came upon the Burley House. After reading the warm reviews about this establishment I decided to make a reservation. The hotel staff was exactly as described - fantastic! The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing before setting out on a 36 hour flight home. The meals were also marvelous! My only regret was that there was not room for another friend to stay overnight with us, but the Burley House was full and our friend had to find other accommodations. I'm not sure if I will ever have to spend the night in Lilongwe again but if I do I know where to go!

Really friendly and accommodating hosts. Felt like you were staying with friends. Food was good, rooms comfortable and all very good value. Would have stayed here again but they were fully booked.

My wife and I live in Malawi. Hotels/Lodges here are a lot of money for what you get. We have stayed at some of the higher end hotels when they had deals going on. South Africa, Zambia and Kenya all of cheaper hotels that are less money but better service. The Burley house is on of the cheaper options. It is clean and the room is nice. It will remind you of a Bed and Breakfast type place. If you are from out of town and just need an overnight stay it is good place. The staff did a really nice job! We felt welcome and the evening staff went out of their way to get us tea and soft drinks. Some of the high end hotels in Lilongwe look at you as if you need to have a private jet to stay there. You will not get that type of feeling here. Very welcoming.
