"Gloucester is an attractive place to visit but make sure to dine early."

8.0

The feel of staying in a very old house with updated modern comfortable facilities. The greatest attraction, of course, is the magnificent cathedral, which was our main reason to visit the town.

It was annotated that the restaurant at the property was open until 12 am. To our disappointment, however, the kitchen was closed at 8:30. Then, we started walking through the town of Gloucester searching for a place to eat "anything": On a nice Saturday warm April evening many places in Gloucester were serving only drinks. Finally, we found a nice Italian restaurant where people seemed to be eating; while waiting at the bar for a table I was worried that, in the meantime, they might close their kitchen. Luckily, they knew that time for dinner for some travelers may be after 9 pm.

"Nice location with the Cathedral and docks in close proximity."

7.0

Excellent location but a bit noisy at night as we had a front room over looking a Main Street.

My main concern was that the Wi-Fi in the room was almost non existent. Each time I managed to get a signal it cut off in a few moments. I checked with the reception that this was a problem and they said the because the walls were solid as this was an old building they had trouble seeming the signal. I eventually had to go out on the balcony to find a signal.

Lovely building and central location. Had mostly what was needed in the room.

Quite tired and dated. TV/WiFi didn't work. Windows locked so felt stuffy at times.

"It was a lovely stay, but please give this wonderful building some love."

8.0

The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They cheerfully solved a minor problem in my room by moving me.

The building is in urgent need of repair. The timbers need treating and painting; the rendering needs patching or replacing in some areas; and the roof needs repair. This building is an important, irreplaceable part of England's history, and it needs to be cared for.
