The Horseshoe Inn

Pro: Nice location with ample parking and lovely food. All of the staff were lovely and made us feel welcome and looked after. Con: Family room doesn't have a bath, which meant no bedtime bath for our kiddies. Shower was extremely cold until I ran the basin tap for a few minutes and even then it only warmed up when set to over 40degrees at which point it slowed to an unusable trickle. We would go again as we had a pleasant stay, but the lack of a bath in the Family Room means that we won't, sorry :(

The attraction was proximity to our family's home, but we were delighted with what we found. First week for the new manager and chef. Still to get used to some details,but not to the detriment of our stay. They were so warm and welcoming and helpful and attentive in every way possible. We were surprised - bathroom IS a room, not just a cubicle off the bedroom. Loads of parking. The quaint architecture and decor - "old world charm". The friendliness of the management and staff - so comfortable. We need a place to stay when visiting our family;that includes 'affordable';and we have tried other places, but now we've found The Horseshoe, we'll be regular visitors!

We had a very nice room & bathroom, the breakfast was very good, not everybody offers smoke salmon & scrambled egg on the breakfast menu. The evening menu was ok, but nothing very special. We felt what let this particular hotel down was the depressing bar & seating areas, even if there had been a couple of vases of fresh flowers on the bar it would have been something, but it was very dreary, altho the hotel had some nice traditional furniture & fittings.

Only there for one night but a pleasing experience on the whole.

Although check-in time is advertised as 2pm we were told that we should try to book in later, since they had had a wedding the day before and some of the rooms had not been vacated. Although we were booked in as residents we were asked at 10:40 pm if we wanted any more drinks as the bar was about to close. Our room was immediately above a wedding disco which was very loud, but thankfully finished around midnight.

The place was so beautiful! Really friendly and helpful staff :)
