"Disappointment"

2.0

I don’t like writing reviews that is negative, but this hotel does not deserve a good one. When you go on their website, your first impression is “WOW”. But then you arrive there... The reception does not seem to know what is going on. Suites are managed by different people… Huh? Honestly, I actually don’t know what to write here. The worst experience I had during my stay in South Africa. For the Mother City to entertain this kind of “luxurious” accommodation, is shameful. I'm sure a "no-star" grade motel will be a better stay than this place. Management very arrogant as is the staff. Walking around like the world owes them. Never ever again will I go back to this hotel!!!

"Misleading on the website, not safe, not cosy, not hygienic....."

2.0

I trusted the website info and pictures, but what you see is not what you get! The security at night is bad. No phones in the rooms as well, thus no contact with reception or security. The guest towels were disgusting and looked used.....Beddings were stained and not hygienic. Had to request for a duvet cover and pillowcases , it was creased and terrrible.......the duvet inner, disgusting. Don't book here especially if you got kids......do not compromise safety and comfort for money.....rooms not cosy. we had a terrible ordeal.....around 04.00 in the morning on 29 April 2015, we had a thud of knocks on our door with a male screaming and asking us to open the door......we awoke with the greatest fear and shock that we were going to be robbed and attacked. We called for the Sea Point SAPS, when they arrived they say it was the SAPS Detective coming to effect a warrant of arrest for someone who was living at this address we stayed in. Hello.....I thought we booked a Holiday apartment.....Why will the Police come storming in without security Personnel. So people rather book with a more reputable place.

"Stay here if you have to."

2.0

We stayed at this establishment for 10 days. It is a budget hotel, so we planned for things to be rough around the edges. But some stuff were not expected. Some other reviewers made a comment about the lifts. During our time we got stuck inside once, and we were very afraid to make use of them. We stayed on the 6th floor, needless to say, our exercise routine were boosted enormously, not by choice but because of the sorry state of the lifts. It is a fairly noisy area, and the windows don't close properly, so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Sea Point is a wonderful area to stay in Cape Town. Do come, but try another place to stay. (If your budget permits)

"A misrepresented poor effort!"

4.0

We always found the reception / security staff helpful, obliging, friendly and courteous. The foyer was clean and gave a good impression. The two lifts came quickly and we seldom had to wait more than 30 seconds or so for one to arrive. However, we found the accommodation itself, which was on the 5th floor, very noisy. Firstly due to a continuous flow of traffic in the main road and secondly because of drunks shouting at all hours of the night. The queen size bed was absolutely disgusting. It had a camber similar to a road, insofar as one had to make a conscious effort not to roll off while attempting to sleep. It was not possible to park our car in the bay we were allocated even though the car parked next to ours was right against the pillar. Both the cutlery and the crockery were appalling, with blunt knives, add plates, no cups and saucers - only mugs. It looked as though the kitchenware had been hastily bought at a secondhand shop or a fete. I would neither recommend this place to any of my friends nor would I ever stay there again.

"Well impressed"

10.0

I have enjoyed my stay beyond my expectations from the 15th of May - 27th May. The self serviced rooms were comfortable, luxurious, clean and big. Every service was superb from the Hotel security. Much thanks to Vicky check in / out was quick. I highly recommend The Centurion.

"Basic. Not a hotel but could rest your head"

2.0

More like a hostel with self contained units. Noise in corridor from other residents. Only fan in room. Very basic. Bathroom smelt and amenities poor. Bed comfy however. Pool area a plus. Not quite what we paid for

"Zklamání"

2.0

"Pleasantly surprised"

10.0

I stayed at the Centurion for 2 weeks during Dec/ Jan14. The self contained flat (306) was spacious for a 1 bed flat, clean, comfortable and quiet with views of Lions Head mountain. Some flats there have sea views but the flats at the back are quieter. The pool area is really nice! The location is perfect with so many shops nearby: Pick & Pay, KFC, Steers, Woolworths foods, CNA, many restaurants etc. The V&A Waterfront is only 30min - 40min walk along the promenade and Atlantic ocean. Look no further if you want a value for money place in a perfect location! I will definitely stay there again when I'm in Cape Town.

"Excellent"

10.0

Having seen previous reviews on this hotel we were very apprehensive about staying here. However, we arrived on a wet afternoon after a long journey from the UK. We were immediately shown up to our apartment (603) and were very pleasantly surprised. There was the usual suite sized kitchen containing a fridge/freezer, microwave, hob and new small electrical appliances. It lacked a few sharp knives and a tin opener but that was easily remedied. The lounge was quite spacious with a very large sofa ,a smaller settee, coffee table and TV. Again everything was very clean and tidy. The bedroom had a very large and superbly comfortable bed, plenty of storage space and an on-suite bathroom with shower and bath. The TV was a little aged but had a large number of channels to view. Sound a bit iffy. On the first floor was a lovely pool area with loungers and chairs. A veritable suntrap sheltered from the wind. The two lifts were a little rickety and restricted to 3 people but they were in working order. The hotel was ideally situated on Main and Frere, a stones throw to the promenade and the Atlantic. We had a good view of the sea from our room. Shops and a large supermarket were close by. The whole are has a large number of cafes, bars and restaurants. Spoilt for choice. It was a relatively easy walk (approx 45 minutes) to the V&A but buses were available if required. We were only here for the week but we were so comfortable and felt really at home that we did not want to leave. When we return to Cape Town this would definitely be our hotel of choice. The following week we were booked into the Peninsula - supposedly a much better hotel than the Centurion but not in our opinion.

"For the budget traveller"

6.0

I booked the cheapest room as my budget was tight, the apartment was clean and liveable but needs to be modernised. The photos of the rooms on their website must have been taken some years ago.The hotel is in a good position with plenty of bars and cafes within easy walking distance as is the seafront.
