The Concierge

The Concierge has the character and charm you won't find in a regular hotel. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms have quirky glass shower cubicles, but.... 1. I had a room overlooking the carpark, while for the same price I could have had a room with a verandah and palm trees facing the road. 2. My room needed painting, the basin was cracked and the towels thread-bare. 3. Choose your breakfast carefully. I had a smallish bowl of sliced fruit with a blob of yoghurt. I asked for a poached egg to follow. "Oh no sir, that's two breakfasts. You'll have to pay extra!" I wasted my time by pointing out that as a single person I had to pay the bed & breakfast rate for two people, so was already paying for two breakfasts. 4. If you want pay your bill using an American Express credit card there is an extra charge for the privilege. [Is that allowed?] It wasn't a great experience, and if I do ever go back I'll take my own towels.

The staff at the hotel is amazing. Friendly, helpful, and professional. The rooms are great, too...but the star here might be the outstanding food at Freedom Cafe, part of the hotel complex. Quirky place, intriguing and delicious menu of fusion cuisine. Eating here was one of the highlights of our visit to Durban!

Stylish, quaint boutique hotel close to Florida road, a main street in Durban. The staff was incredibly welcoming and the food at the cafe was delicious, I couldn't wait for breakfast! We stayed for 4 days and received good recommendations from the staff on where to go in the city. Uber was the most affordable way to get around and they pick you up right at the hotel.

We loved The Concierge! The service was excellent, the attention to detail in all aspects of the establishment and the connection with local community makes this hotel a definite winner

Nice stay .but not much choice for vegetarians.

The telephone line does not work. The Hotel is very difficult to locate.

We were greeted warmly upon check-in by Robin, the General Manager. He took the time to show us to our room and explained the amenities within. We found our stay to be quite comfy. The room and bathroom were quite spacious however if you are a light sleeper, I would recommend you to request a room that doesn't overlook the parking lot as it can get quite noisy in the mornings as their restaurant is quite popular. Our stay included breakfast which is very satisfying both in quantity and quality. My only complaint is that the wifi was very spotty. Also, if you want to stay in the tourist area, this hotel is not for you.

Staff and total experience most enjoyable. A shame the location is not conducive to long getting-to-know-the-area walks.

LOVED this place. As others said, it's a little hard to find--tucked away in a residential neighborhood but the place was very memorable--and a bit hipster. Using an Uber makes finding this place much easier though. The rooms were clean and the hotel was quaint and charming. The little touches like decals in the shower and having a deck with plants really made this place stand out. Further, breakfast was awesome!

We really enjoyed our stay there. It is a very stylish and conveniently located, with lots of restaurants and shops located nearby. Small, but cozy and cool!
