"A beautiful riad and wonderfull Moroccan hospitality!"

10.0

Fatima made us feel like home. She gave us directions to the best restaurants, she took care of me when I was sick during the night and she made us a delicious breakfast! We absolutely recommend this place. Thank you, Fatima 🙏

"Spacious!"

10.0

We stayed one night in the Indigo Suite and we couldn't be happier. It was like living in a palace after all the small and crampy rooms we've had before in Morocco. It was exceptionally clean and incredibly spacious. The bathroom was huge though the shower was missing any kind of lighting. It was very quiet and cozy. We're quite sure that aside from one lady taking care of the hotel we were the only ones on the premises. The street noise was minimal thanks to proper glass windows. The service was very friendly exceptionally helpful. The location is also perfect, close to any Essaouira attractions.

"Bring your own lights..."

8.0

Fatima was a gracious host and helped us find things we were looking for. At this time, there is no breakfast, although previous reviewers had suggested breakfast was available. Perhaps if you paid extra, I'm not sure. I thought that this riad was poorer value than others we had stayed in Morocco. We spent 412 Dh. Comfortable room with a sort of TV lounge attached. (TV didn't work). Very poor, dim lighting and a plugged shower in Room # 2 (Lilas). Convenient location close to most of the souks and near the port area...

"Great little Riad"

10.0

This Riad is a perfect location for everything. It's clean and the owner Frank and his housekeeper Fatima couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Frank was always on hand with advise of what to do and where to go. We didn't have breakfast booked but requested it one morning as was off to Marakesh early. It was simple but good. No complaints at all here. Paul and Sharleen

"Worst Customer Service Experience"

2.0

It's centrally located and the rooms are fairly nice, but this was the worst customer service I have ever received. I booked the hotel through Expedia and provided my card information. There was a mix-up with if the room had been paid for or not, and the owner thought my friend and I were trying to gip her of her money, which we definitely were not. We arrived at the hotel after dinner around 9:30 (we had already checked in) and she demanded the money. So we told her we had booked with Expedia and that Expedia should be paying her. Her English was limited, at best, so we had to use Google to translate from English to French. We went back and forth for 20 minutes about how we needed to pay because Expedia takes commission out, etc. She called a friend that spoke English, and we spoke briefly on the phone, but he only reiterated what the woman had said. He arrived shortly thereafter, and claimed he didn't understand English, but the real issue was that he wasn't used to two women talking to him as an equal. He said we were trying to pull one over on him because we said we were supposed to get breakfast, but we hadn't paid for it, but in the "included amenities" portion of the booking, it said breakfast buffet. This had been a reason we had booked the hotel, but we ultimately decided not to get the breakfast because it was overpriced and we didn't want to give the Riad anymore money. The man ended up cutting me off, didn't let me speak, and kept repeating the same garbage over and over. We asked them to call Expedia so that we could make sure my card wasn't going to get charged and they refused. Eventually the man left and Expedia called the hotel (after our family in the US called them asking for more info about our booking). The woman gave me the phone, but repeatedly attempted to take the phone away from me and almost hung up the phone once before I got the information about our booking that my friend and I needed. If you are looking for an uncomfortable and awkward situation, you should stay here. It was the worst part of my trip to Morocco.

"Lovely read spotlessly clean"

10.0

Great place in good location right in the medina. The manager Fatima is a nice person and keeps the place very clean and tidy. The rooms are large and well decorated. Only complaint was the breakfast was a bit boring no fruit just bready stuff which the Moroccans seem to love. Also you don't get a key for the front door so you have to ring every time you come back but this wasn't really a problem for us. Otherwise would recommend it much nicer than a much higher rated Riad we checked out of on the first night as it was rubbish !

"Excellent seaside location"

10.0

Riad Amana is located in the old Medina in Essaouira. It is really easy to find, about a ten minute walk from the Supratours office. Once you are there , you are never more than five minutes from anywhere in the Medina , it is about a fifteen minute walk to the beach. The hotel is a large house on three floors , we were on the first floor, our room ( Lilas) had an additional sitting room and separate shower facilities. The room is not air-conditioned but Essaouira has lots of cool sea breezes. We slept OK , a nice comfortable bed. Breakfast is a little basic but sufficient. The lady who runs the hotel, Fatima, is very friendly and helpful. Our room and the hotel were kept very clean and tidy during our visit. The hotel is in a great location for Essaouira.

"A centrally located riad close to the beach"

6.0

Riad Amana is a spacious and very attractive riad in Essaouira, very easy to find and centrally located. The place was cold, as was our room, which was otherwise comfortable and had a boiling hot shower. There was no heater in the room. The place was also mostly empty for the duration of our stay which made it seem a little isolated. Breakfast was served in a rather dark dining room and was adequate but nothing special. I was informed the first morning that I could not have another glass of orange juice, but cooked eggs were provided when we requested them. Though I speak French quite well, there were a number of unfortunate miscommunications with Fatima which ended up taking the edge off our stay. We left a day early to return to Marrakesh and the French owners of the Riad offered us a reduction on the last night of our booking as we had booked through Booking.com. But we did not get our money back for the last night. A so-so and somewhat disappointing experience after coming from a Marrakesh riad where we had felt completely overwhelmed by the service and the welcome of the owners and staff. Hospitality really is everything.

"Good Place to Stay"

6.0

Only stayed the one night in the Sahara suite so did not get chance to meet all the hosts. Review should be taken in this context. Riad Amana was stylishly decorated and very centrally located for the Medina. We took the bigger suite at the top of the Riad accessed from the roof terrace. It was quiet and the massive bed comfortable. But the room was very cold and the decor a bit tired. A small heater not really going to make a difference. At breakfast the service was friendly and personal. But the content of the breakfast was average compared to other Riads we had stayed in. Didn't like all the smoking in the Riad either but that very much a personal thing and in warmer months it would be in the open air. All in all a pretty good place to stay. And the staff all very welcoming. But to be honest Riad Amana did not reach the heights for us.
