Our stay here was amazing! We booked the family room and it was huge - plenty of space for everyone! It was exceptionally clean (one thing we always look for). Such a unique place to stay in a cave, it will always be a wonderful memory for us. The history of the place was interesting too (there were old photos on the walls in the restaurant). The breakfast was lovely, and in addition to the small buffet, they brought out eggs, prosciutto & cheese, and cappuccinos for us. Our sons especially loved the homemade cakes/tarts. The weather was chilly when we visited, but there was a lovely outdoor area with small tables and chairs to enjoy if you come during the summer. Highly highly recommend for a unique and wonderful place to stay for families in Matera!

There was nothing we didn't like about the accommodations! But just be aware that you cannot drive into the historical part of the city. We had to park at an overnight garage out the outskirts. There are shuttles available, I believe, but we chose to walk and it was a little trickier than we expected to navigate finding the hotel, and to walk up some hillier paths and stairs with our luggage. However, I wouldn't change a thing because we liked the beautiful location.

Sleeping in the cave is a different beautiful place experience! Beds were comfortable, towels soft, we weee six in the family room and all of us had our privacy. Everything was sparkling clean. Breakfast amazing and staff very friendly! Thank you Dodici Lune
