Hotel Dammenmühle

This was an excellent place for our overnight stop. The room was clean and comfortable, though the toiletries were basic. We enjoyed sitting outside and drinking the 'home brew'! in this lovely location.

Når man ved ankomst står 5-10 minutter, mens personalet render rundt om én, uden at én af dem så meget som siger "goddag" eller "et øjeblik", ja så ved man, at servicen kan blive udfordrende. Det var desværre en gennemgående udfordring. Vi havde bestilt to dobbeltværelser i to nætter og det eneste vi ikke fik, var to dobbeltværelser. Først fik vi tilbudt et, dog stort, tresengsværelse og kun efter et surt opstød, lykkedes det at få to værelser. Anden nat var det ene dobbeltværelse kun redt op til én og med håndklæder til én. WIFI'en var med særdeles svingende kvalitet. Hotellet ligger særdeles smukt og med masser af god mulighed for ekstra oplevelser for børn og voksne. Har eget bryggeri og øllet smager fortrinligt. Maden i restauranten er på det jævne og vi valgte derfor kun at spise på hotellet den ene aften.

Weahve been here twice for family affairs. The rooms are clean and the food is good. The wi-fi is terrible. The staff speaks good english as many had friends in the Canadian forces. However they were not capable of answering questions and has to consult the owners about the smallest request. They also could not find reservations for several members of our party. Be sure to bring a written confirmation of your reervation. Tlhey have brewey on site and the beer is good. Row boats are availble for use on the pond. They have peacocks wondering around the property. Thee serve as alarm clocks.

Hotel Dammenmühle is situated in a peaceful farming community 2 km from the center of the town of Lahr. It has extensive beautiful gardens with exotic peacocks roaming the grounds. There is a lake with rowboats for a peaceful interlude. Walt Disney could have created this place as the home of Hansel and Gretel! The old hotel has the kitchen and breakfast area but the rooms are located in modern 3-story building adjacent to the on site brewery. There is a bar fridge in the room. The restaurant and pub is one of the most popular in Lahr so there is always a lively bar scene but it is separated from the hotel block so that there is issue with noise at night. The home brewed beer is quite special! The restaurant served traditional Bavarian dishes and we ate there all 4 nights as it was so convenient. Be sure to try the “Zwiebelkuchen” literally, onion cake, but in fact a German Pizza. We get it to take out and had it on the patio of our room with a nice bottle of Alsace sparking wine! Rooms are large, modern with air conditioning and there is cable TV but no English language stations. Some have patios and there is a small pool. The staff are extremely helpful and all can communicate in English. Breakfast is typical European with hot food, bacon and eggs option and is included in the room rate. There is a large parking lot with complimentary parking. This is an ideal location to spend four to seven days and do day trips to Freiburg, Colmer, Strasbourg and the Alsace wine towns like Riquewihr. All are less than an hour away.

We called and made a reservation for 7:00 p.m. to reserve a table by the pond. When we got there 10 minutes before the waitress told us something had gone wrong and there was no reservation. We were then seated in a self serve section.The tables around us were full with dirty dishes from previous guests, for at least an hour. We watched new customers come in and ask if they could be seated near the pond and were able to get tables. The hotel and resturant is nice to see, however the service was disappointing.

Simple but comfortable rooms , they have own brewery ( good beer.....even that I'm not a fan of beer) , restaurant is good with delicious Black Forest dishes, and nice breakfast. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

Ambience superb. Garden setting in the country yet moments away from city center in Lahr. Visiting Lahr having lived there in 1969. Found this jewel of accommodation on the web. Blown away with the total look on arrival. Gorgeous. Things got better as I had my first experience with the staff then the room (huge)then the food and Dancing?? outside in the evening. Like paradise. Thank you for our BEST overnight experience in our three week journey.

Sjovt sted - viste sig at have en lille dyrepark med lamaer, påfugle mm. Havde eget bryggeri, hyggelig gårdhave og en lille sø med robåde. Små værelser, men meget imødekommende personale.
