The room was fine and the hotel was clean and smart.

The coffee was dreadful at breakfast and there was a sign saying we had to pay extra if we wanted a second cup (we went to a bakery down the road for a decent espresso instead). This is Italy - famous for good coffee - and it isn't that hard to produce something drinkable. Breakfast starts late and dinner finishes early - not ideal if you want to spend long days in the mountains

Lack of cleaning, old dated, definitely need a renovation, the beds are small.

Excellent breakfast

Last minute booking as the original hotel we booked in Courmayeur was unsuitable. Last time I was in Courmayeur was 35 years ago! a much smaller, friendly and less trendy ski resort then. Now it makes Wengen seem tatty! The welcome from the young member of the family and his partner was excellent, friendly BUT not bland corporate “Have a nice day”! rubbish. They simply attended to our every needs, The best way to describe this hotel is that it is a warm friendly quality traditional Alpine hotel which retains its original charm and GENUINE friendly approach to its guests. I have stayed in 5 star hotels in St James, London, Times Square New York, 7th Arrondissement in Paris. Shinjuko in Japan and others. Basically, they are all the same. The staff are trained to within an inch of their lives with permanent smiles. The rooms are perfect and exceptionally comfortable but you could be anywhere in the world. These days, in my 70s I find more enjoyment from staying in traditional hotels which reflect the character of their location, especially family run by friendly people who are proud of their locality their establishment and their profession. At breakfast, the head waitor was immaculate with dark suite and bow tie. He looked as though he'd been been born locally and been in this profession all his life and ran his restaurant with sheer class. No amount of corporate training could achieve his standards. Similarly his assistant, similarly immaculately clad with crisp white shirt, bow tie and black waistcoat was constantly checking every dish and all the tables to ensure everything was perfect. The quality of the breakfast was also first class. My wife and I observed these two for some time as this sort of “professional service” is rapidly disappearing worldwide. This is a much longer than normal review and is indicative of how much we enjoyed our stay here, My skiing days are over, howver I have already recommended Hotel Courmayeur to family members.

The only matter than I didn't like was the fact that I hadn't booked more days here!

Stayed at the hotel recently and found the room to have an unmistakable aged aura, accompanied by a lingering old smell. While some may appreciate the vintage charm, it might not be to everyone's liking. Consider your preferences before booking. We were surprised to discover an additional 2.5€ 'coperto' charge per person in hotel’s restaurant. Travelers should be aware of these hidden fees, especially if just stopping by for a quick beverage. That is not what you expecting paying 150€ per night.
