Hotel nel centro di Portovenere, camera pulita e staff molto cortese! Colazione abbondante e di qualità da guatarsi sulla terrazza vista mare!

Quarto pequeno, banheiro minúsculo, mas tudo limpinho. Cama boa. Café da manhã bom. Visual lindo, maravilhoso.

The staff was outstanding. I mean really... just so kind, courteous and attentive, offering up suggestions for hiking, transport and local things to see and do. Breakfast was excellent including scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, yogurts, fresh fruits and more baked goods then you can count. We were fueled up for our day thanks to this all encompassing breakfast. Oh, and the view from our room! Wow! We had a corner room upstairs that showed and expansive view of the comings and goings of the boats and ships in the harbor. The Hotels location is prime as well. It is just a short walk from the main harbor port of Portovenere. All the busy tourism is close enough to be fun but just far enough way to remain quiet and calm. Plus, if you walk from the hotel in the opposite direction there is an entire different area to explore with it's own shopping and eateries including a great (I believe free!) beach. Everything was terrific... well, almost everything. Too bad the room was let down by 2 things...

A room with a view like this should be honored with a interior decor and comfort to match. Instead it looked and felt like a Texas motel room. Honestly, for a country so steeped in pride of design and beauty, how this room exists in this state left me utterly dumbfounded. This room has two expansive windows looking out onto one of the most beautiful places in Europe. It makes you want to just sit there with a warm cup of coffee and take in the beauty before you. Unfortunately, the seating provided is so terrible all you really can do with it is place a backpack on it or hang you jacket on the back of it because you certainly can't sit there for long. It's a physically terrible place to sit. Hard uncomfortable chairs are NOT what a guest at a hotel wants. It almost makes you angry because you know you are in this incredibly special place and yet you can't take advantage of it. All you really can do is just stand there or lay on the bed and look out the window because you certainly can't sit in a chair you can only assume they found at a local garage sale. The good thing about the sub-par decor and uncomfortable seating is that it forces you to get out of your hotel room and go explore the Cinque Terra. But honestly, this place is just some new flooring, paint and furniture away from being a STUNNING hotel in a location I would return to yearly.
