Reykjavik Peace Center Guesthouse

This would be an atmospheric building and could facilitate guests meeting and mingling, if only it were maintained better. I liked the largish and eclectic library, with a truly surreal selection of books in various languages. There is a nice sitting area on the top floor. Some of the decorative items were also pleasantly surreal: for example, a plastic cube commemorating a May 1977 IBM S/32 and S/34 user forum held in Húsavík (of all places), personalised to an ÁstÞór Magnússon.

Most of the kitchen appliances either don't work or are so dirty/grimy that I didn't feel like using them (for example, while there is no toaster, there was a sandwich maker with the non-stick coating flaking all over; the oven looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years; one of the fridges had mould in the deep freeze; the dishwasher was broken, sealed with duct tape, and had obviously been like that for weeks). In one of the bathrooms, the trash can was overflowing. The hot water has a distinct sulphur smell (probably due to geothermal heating, so at least it's renewable); this would be OK, but in the downstairs kitchen you can't get really cold water, so all water smells of sulphur. There is poorly concealed junk all over and around the property. It seemed there was someone living in one of the rooms permanently, with a baby that cried often. In the upstairs kitchenette, there is only a table so low it's almost lower than the chairs, so barely suitable for eating (its legs are balanced by bits of paper stuck under them). This same kitchenette smelled of mould, even though it had just been "cleaned" (which seems to amount to little more than vacuuming). The locks on the rooms have two settings: either you can't lock them at all, or the door locks automatically when you close it, allowing you to lock yourself out. In one room, one of the beds didn't have a power outlet near. The windows were so dirty it amounted to a layer of soundproofing. Many of the blinds were missing their pull string. The walls are thin: another guest was having a very noisy bathroom session next door and it was as if he were with us in the bedroom. The kitchens were full of food items apparently left by previous guests, but there was very little cutlery (no teaspoons at all, for example).

Nur weil in Island nahezu jede Unterkunft echt heruntergekommen ist, wird das nicht mein Maßstab zur Bewertung. Winziges Zimmer mit verschlossener Verbindungstür. Unmittelbar dahinter die Allgemeindusche, deren Geräusche eine schlecht sitzende Tür natürlich nicht verbirgt. Alles schmuddelig (wie überall). Baumateriallagerung im Aufenthaltsraum. Email mit Anweisung zum Ausfüllen des Formulars, welches im Zimmer liegt...tat es aber nicht. Beim Hausherrn geklingelt - Fernseher aus, Geflüster. Oh, ein Gast! Nach mehrmaligem Klingeln dann doch geöffnet - Formular nicht mehr nötig. Einfach mal den Mailtext ändern?

Un quartier calme mais il faut avoir une voiture pour aller au centre de Reykjavik.

Un établissement qui a du potentiel mais qui ne semble pas entretenu. Nous sommes restés 3 nuits, la salle de bain n'a pas été nettoyée, la poubelle débordée. La cuisine n'est pas propre, manque d'ustensiles et de Vaiselle. La pièce principale ressemble à un lieu de stockage ainsi qu'à l'extérieur.

Das Konzept, hinter dem Peace Center Guesthouse, ist prinzipiell eine gute Idee. Die Zimmer waren ausreichend groß und auch die Anzahl der Badezimmer war OK. Der Parkplatz direkt vor der Tür, war auch super.

Die Sauberkeit war ein großes Problem. Das es bei einer gemeinschaftlichen Nutzung der Badezimmer, Aufenthaltsräume sowie Küche, nicht immer alles super ordentlich ist, ist uns bewusst. Aber das viele Lebensmittel im Kühlschrank schon mehrere Tage abgelaufen waren, viele Geräte gar nicht erst funktionierten und die Mülleimer schon übervoll waren und in den 2 Tagen, die wir dort waren, nicht geleert wurden fanden wir schade. Die Badezimmer, müssten unserer Meinung nach, bei so vielen Personen mindestens einmal pro Tag gereinigt werden. Auch fanden wir es sehr schade, dass der Außenbereich der Anlage nicht genutzt werden konnte und eher eine Müllhalde darstellte. Hier wäre es doch schön, wenn man abends noch "friedlich" draußen zusammen sitzen könnte. Die Lage war auch etwas schwierig. Schnell mal in die Stadt, funktioniert hier nicht. 40-45 Minuten mit dem Bus in die Innenstadt von Reykjavik.

Když už se člověk odváží vlézt do do sprchy, tak ho čeká zjištění že nefunguje kohoutek pro změnu teploty vody, takže pokud nechce aby mu slezla kůže kvůli vařící voda tak sprchu opouští. Pokoj Lennon L8 sousedí s rodinou která to nejspíš trvale žije a má několik dětí, kteří jsou od brzkého rána velice aktivní(což u dětí cením), ale pokud přicestujete v noci a chcete se trošku vyspat tak tu možnost nemáte, pokud sebou nemáte špunty do uší.

Limpieza justita en las zonas comunes, supongo que dependiendo de los otros huéspedes. Nuestra habitación tenía ventanales enormes y no tenía cortinas, lo cual dificulta dormir cuando hay sol las 24h del día.
