D Tunjung Resort & Spa

We came from Lovina and were hoping for a quiet launching pad to stay while we went scuba diving, climbing Gunung Agung and visiting Tenganan. We were able to do all of these things pretty easily from D' Tunjung and the actual location of the hotel was great! Right on the water and quiet. The problem was how busy and loud Candi Dasa is. So much traffic and big trucks passing through! It was hard to enjoy a meal out at the restaurants in town. The accommodations were very small and simple. Don't expect to spend anytime in your room besides sleeping. We loved the outdoor shower, but it was a bit weird having buildings above our open area where people may be able to see in. Overall it was a nice place to stay, but I don't necessarily recommend Candi Dasa as a good "getaway". Go to Lovina if you want to get a quiet relaxed feel.

Very nice garden, wonderful view on the sea, and very close to small beach and nice pond by the sea. Dining facilities at hand, boat trips to beach or for snorkeling, car trips to Ujung or Tirtagganga are available. Room is simple and would benefit from having just a kettle and some coffee/tea. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.

Just about the perfect hotel experience! Fantastic location looking out over the ocean. Amazing staff service - nothing was too much! Beautifully designed and clean bedrooms with comfortable beds, however suggest they put a couch or something similar to sit on in the rooms. Beautiful gardens. Fantastic spa service. Breakfast was okay, not very exciting. Overall fantastic hotel and great location, we would definitely go back there in a flash!

This hotel/resort was only open a month at the time I stayed. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to us. The "rooms" here are really 1 room cabins with a bed. There are chairs for sitting on the front porch, but not in the room itself. The bathroom is on an "open to the air" covered back porch (yes it has a fence/wall around it so privacy was not an issue). It took a little getting used to, but it was not a problem for me and seemed kind of quaint. The rooms do have a AC unit, but it needs to work hard to keep up with the heat, especially since the rooms are not insulated or weather sealed. I would completely recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a quiet, secluded getaway in Bali. Because of its location away from the main resort area of the island it is a long drive to those areas and I would not recommend to anyone looking for a big resort experience. There are however, many good restaurants, small shops, and things to do in the town around this resort. The hotel does offer drivers and can arrange for tours and other activities (diving, snorkeling, etc). It also has a small, but relaxing Spa on the premises. Please note that this hotel is a 2 to 2 1/2 hour drive from the airport.
