Loved that it was central to Cairns had everything outside of the hotel that you needed

There was quite a bit of black mould in the bathroom and the lack of hairdryer facilities

"Excellent location at a great price but the property feels a bit sad."

The location is excellent. Having a whole suite was a bonus. The staff were delightful. The shower was perfect.

It isn’t that I didn’t like anything as I was comfortable enough and enjoyed my stay but the place feels uncared for. Everything was spotless but the towels were thinner than my 40-year-old towels at home, the toilet leaked, the tap on the kitchen sink leaked, there was no air con in the bedroom, no smoke detector anywhere, the TV had only 4 channels (no ABC or SBS) and it pixellated so badly it may as well have been a Kandinsky painting. Trying to set up the pedestal fan was a struggle as the only power point was behind the bunk beds.
