"ospitalità e comfort"

8.0

"Wonderful Hotel"

10.0

We chose this hotel a a nice stop over from southern Italy to Rome. It is slightly of the A-3 Highway. The hotel is in the small village of Atena Lucana which is atop a hill. The hotel is well maintained. We were received very nicely by Iovanna the hostess. She took us to the room which was very spacious, had very nicely decorated walls painted in old light gold tone. The bathroom was very clean and spacious. There was a nice comfortable queen size bed. The window gave us a panoramic view of the valley. The staff was always very courteous and attentive. I had for dinner in the hotel restaurant a seafood antipasto which included 2 nice sized gamberoni, grilled baby octopus and calamari followed by a nice freshly made pasta with salmon. These dishes were both delicious. The were accompanied by a nice glass of agliano red wine. For breakfast we had a nice continental breakfast which included some slices of prosciutto and local cheese. This is a clean, well maintained hotel with wonderful staff. Parking on site is complimentary. We highly recommend this facility.

"Wonderful Torre Antica.....the old tower !"

10.0

Found this hotel on the internet before going on holiday to Calabria via the airport in Rome, and used it for a stopover. A quick, easy, three mile drive from the autostrada, everything there was excellent...the welcome...the location, with wonderful views across the wide valley to the distant mountains, the room very well appointed with everything necessary for comfort and convenience ...food very good and an interesting vehicle-less hilltop town to explore until dinner was ready ! Our stay here was another marvellous start to our annual Italian idyll.

"Charm and Class at a great price!"

10.0

The hotel was created by renovating an ancient tower that protected the town of Atena Lucana from foreign invasion. The views from most windows of the hotel are incredible, and especially from the large window in the dining room. The staff makes every effort to accommodate you. The food is excellent, and reasonably priced. Try the Strascinati ai porcini for lunch and you'll wonder how simple pasta, mushrooms and tomatoes can taste so flavorful! The price of the rooms is also reasonable, and for a visit to Atena Lucana, there is no more convenient hotel. It's the only hotel located right in the heart of the old town, and a short walk will bring you to every important site. The maître d’ is Gerardo, and he made sure I was taken care of. My one regret is that I did not take him up on his offer of a late night glass of grappa, but you can bet I will next time!

"Where time stood still..."

10.0

We booked one night in the Torre Antica in Atena Lucana as a stopover on our way to Lecce from Napoli. The small village of Atena Lucana, perched on a mountain top with great views only has one drawback: there is literally nothing to see or to do here. But that didn't bother us, as were only there for dinner and a good night's sleep. The hotel is excellent and has a special, gothic, almost medieval (as the name suggest) feel to it. The rooms are large, with antechambers, antique furniture and creepy portraits gracing the walls but we found it wonderful... Our room was clean and featured a luxurious bathroom. When you wander through the public spaces with the rugs and chandeliers, it almost feels like you're strolling through your own castle. The fact that we were the only guests around when we checked in (some others arrived later in the evening) only added to the impression. Quite remarkable. Just like the hotel, the staff is remakable as well. I assume the hotel is ran by a family with the pater familias doubling as the maître in the restaurant. We dined in that night and despite the language problem (the owner's English is very basic and let that be an understatement, but our Italian is non-existant!) and the fact that there is no written menu, we managed to get an outstanding, authentic Italian dinner experience! In the morning, there is also a breakfast buffet served in the restaurant which is pretty basic but fresh nonetheless. The next morning upon check-out after a great night's sleep, we were greeted again by the warm and friendly owners and questioned about our next journey. Hearing we were going to Lecce, the came up with a lot of tips and suggestions even though we'd already prepared our next itinerary ;-). Bottom line: a remarkable (in a positive way) and unforgettable stay in this rather exceptional hotel/villa/castle. Oh, and the rate (both for the room and dinner) was very good as well!

Few other guests during our stay. Very nice staff, good service, enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. Definitely worth the price. Somewhat remote.

Et af de bedste eksempler på en hotelindretning/restaurering i et gammelt hus. Høj gennemført og smagfuld kvalitet.God service og et sædeles godt aftensmåltid.

"Fantastic location, food and price"

10.0

I was really impressed with this hotel. The price was very reasonable (we booked on bookings.com) and we had an amazing lunch at the hotel. (Note: there really aren't any other restaurants in town for lunch). The town is lovely and full of tiny streets and rich with history. We enjoyed wandering around and visited the local archeology museum (free). I would definitely recommend a night here if you are in the area. The room included breakfast, which was simple (pastries, coffee, yogurt, fruit) but nice.
