"Lady Jane"

8.0

I really enjoyed my stay but want to make clearer than the reviews I read that this is not the place for everyone. Hugo (owner) could not have been any sweeter, but the house is large and old and the decor eccentric. My room was 'Africa' and I wish I had known before booking that this large room is not only filled with masks, drums etc but also has poor lighting and a high loft bed with a tiny spiral staircase to it. I'm 6.5 months pregnant and travelling on my own for the weekend so this wasn't ideal and I ended up actually sleeping on the couch below my second night there to avoid dangerous midnight trips down to the bathroom in the hall. The shower was also a challenge as you can't stand because of the sloped ceiling...but the bath was lovely and there was plenty of hot water. The breakfast was ample and I actually ate it for breakfast and a light lunch both days. Breakfast was served on a tray outside the room and not in a common area, so this is not the place for messing other travellers casually. The location was a bit out of the way, but still a fairly easy walk to anywhere in town...I missed the bus my last day and actually ended up walking all the way to the train station (not ideal with luggage on cobble stones) but doable and I caught my train...just :-)

"Really special place "

10.0

My friend and I booked the Lady Jane for a 3 night stay in Bruges - and even before arriving had had extremely helpful and friendly correspondence with the owner, Hugo. On arrival, we discovered our 'room' was actually practically the whole floor - consisting of bedroom, living/dining room, bathroom and library, all of vast size. All were clean and thoughtfully decorated, and it felt an incredibly homely place to base ourselves for our stay. Hugo could not have been more helpful and welcoming - providing a guide for things to do and places to eat, a fantastic breakfast to enjoy lazily each morning, and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We would wholeheartedly recommend this as a place to stay in Bruges, and only wish we had booked to stay longer.

"Walking distance from main square"

6.0

We had a whole floor to ourselves so it was nice. No key to worry about because the front door uses a code to get in. Quiet.

"Exceptional"

10.0

Yes there is a shared bathroom but its a small price to pay for the comfort, style and service of this hotel. Decor is stylish and mixed with best European style breakfast I have had with enough left over for lunch. Whilst you are outside the inner moat; it's only by one minutes walk.

"Great location and good for couples"

8.0

We were given a great welcome by Hugo on arrival to the bed and breakfast. We were staying in the Japan room which was a bit different (filled with Japanese objects and kimonos) but an extremely spacious room. Overall I would recommend this room as we got use of the large lounge, library and a lovely large bathroom. It was more like having an apartment, and it was lovely to have the use of the lounge as there isn't really anywhere to sit in the room itself. The breakfast was nice, fresh bread, pastries, cheese and meats etc, and tea and coffee are available all day to make yourselves. The location is great, a short walk to the main square and all areas are easily accessable. I would recommend this b&b to others espceially if you enjoy staying somewhere a bit different.

"It's a gem"

10.0

Right in the heart of Bruges we found a gem, this bed and breakfast came with lots of surprises. Lovely comfortable room, with the best breakfast supplied outside our door each morning. Sharing of bathroom was no hassle, and the owner/manager was very helpful with suggestions of where to go and where to eat. We enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend Lady Jane for a great stay.

"Relaxed and Affable"

8.0

This is a very relaxed place to stay, maybe a little too relaxed if you are looking for hotel style service, but if you like the idea of being given the run of a big, charming house close to the centre of Bruges (about a 10 minute walk to the market square) where you can make yourself at home then this might be for you. Feels more like you are staying with a very easy going friendly acquaintance than the more usual B&B vibe. Possibly not too everyone's tastes but as a veteran of theatre 'digs' this arrangement was fine with me. The ready supply of decent wine, beer and advice also helps. Breakfast is a pretty passable continental taken at your leisure.
