Holiday Inn & Suites Houston West - Westway Park by IHG

First room we got #was 414 We walk in and it smells like mold. As I step into the room I noticed the floor is caving in like sink holes in at least 3 different spots. Not sure if the had been previous water damages or what had caused it but I didn’t feel safe in the room so we asked to switch. They then put us in #423 same moldy smell as soon as we entered the room. In addition there was 5% water pressure in the shower. Never staying there again and if we had been given a refund we would have switched hotel right away.

Front desk staff was excellent until the last day. One male staff or owner made my wife unwelcome after check out. I was finalizing on a factory certification class while my wife had to check it at 11:30. She asked if she could wait in the lobby while she waited for me to finish. And he gave a long pauseand said i guess. Not sure if I'd stay there again. And breakfast was a little sad. But ok.

Everything was fine. A little bit far from the hospital.

Location

Facilities are outdated, the spa was closed and the restaurant offer very basic menu. The bar had a very limited selection of drinks. It feels like the hotel is bout to close.

It was clean

The staff go above and beyond. Friendly and professional. I typically need extra pillows and extra full-strength coffee. And they always supply me with both. Our housekeeper was excellent, despite a bit of a language barrier. With her limited English and my limited Spanish, we managed to make it work.

There were not enough outlets for all of our laptops and many other devices. The table to work on my project is too high for the chair they offer. And it was not an office chair as it has always been in the past, and there were certain lights by the bed that no longer work.

The carpets are filthy, and the bedside table is rusted
