Heidl Guest House

Good location with some parking at the front door. Very pleasant staff at check in & breakfast. The gentleman who checked us in, even carried my suitcase upstairs for me. The room was compact but clean. Some furniture in the room may not have been necessary- 2 bedside tables, wardrobe, chest of drawers & a large desk with 2 chairs. The bathroom was newly renovated. It had a bath/shower combo plus a separate shower. Probably not necessary, space could have been better utilised but very nice. We stayed for 2 nights. There was daily housekeeping. Bottled water provided in the room. Tea/coffee provisions in the room. Toiletries provided - shampoo, conditioner & body wash. Hair dryer in room. Limited power points & no USB charging, adapter required as we were not from UK. Wifi available but not great. Easy walk into town & supermarket just around the corner. The breakfast was very good with a combination of self service with pre ordering for the cooked component. They are obviously trying to renovate/refurbish rooms within the Heidl Guesthouse portion of this complex, as tradespeople were onsite during our stay. Overall, we were very happy with our stay at this property.

Most clear occurrence of buying positive reviews online in my experience on Hotels.com. No way this place (room 8) deserves a rating above 5/10 by actual humans. This place appears to be run by young people doing their best but the place needs a severe upgrade in terms of appearance and safety. While we had no regrettable incidents on that front, the door lock was flimsy, the windows didn't lock at all while looking out on the roof, and I had to go lock the front door myself even though they said they would. Simply put, we got horrible vibes during check-in and decided that very night to cut our stay short the next day even without a refund. As for our actual stay, it was functional and breakfast was quite decent, but it was nowhere near the value of what we paid and we just couldn't wait to leave.

Good location, 5 minute walk to city centre. Friendly helpful staff. The room had comfortable beds, breakfast had plenty of choice.

Slightly confused as I had to check in next door. Limited parking. Bedroom on first impression was lovely. Newly refurbished. Couldn’t get check to work. Bathroom very modern but couldn’t get hot water for the basin. Door not fitted well. Light omitting from beneath the door. Curtains not good at blocking out the light. Mattress and pillows quite firm. Could hear other guests snoring and their notifications on their phone. But I only paid £57 for bed and breakfast. Really great value.

Stayed for one night at this little guest house, it looked abandoned when we first arrived as all we could see through the front window were chairs and tables stacked up. There was a notice saying to check in next door at the Grampian Hotel. The man on the check in desk was very friendly and give us the key to room 2 in the guest house. The room was really clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast the following morning was lovely, with a very good selection of cereals, yoghurts and fruits, followed by a nice cooked breakfast. Don't be put off by the exterior, it is a really nice place

Comfortable and clean (but dated) room in the Heidl guest house which is an annex to the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was functional. Food was provided in the hotel. The hotel is also an Indian/Ghurka restaurant and the food was excellent! The front room of the Guest House is used as a storage which can be off putting to guests.
