Budget Motor Inn- Mahopac

Owner insisted I pay cash. Smoke alarm missing from ceiling. Room smelled strongly of cigarettes even though it had a non-smoking sign on door. On a positive note, it's very close to the Empire State bike trail and Mario's, the Italian restaurant next door is excellent and a good value.

Well, the room is not reasonable for its price. Everything is old.

Good pit stop after a long car trip. Basic room was tidy with fridge and microwave. Walking distance to 24 hour diner.

Place needs some TLC. Everything is old and dated.

Motel was a bit outdated. For the price ($130) it could have been much better. Check-in was easy, grounds were nice & facility was close to restaurants/amenities. I got a motel the next day in Newark, DE, for $30 less and motel was in much better shape.

Place is inhabitable and should be condemned!!! I will be calling the department of health!

I stayed at the motor inn last year when biking to Poughkeepsie. The room was newly renovated and furnished. That’s why I was looking forward to doing it again this year. However, we got a different room this time and it was terrible. The room has a filthy smell when we walked in. The carpet was old and dirty. The bathroom was in bad condition. There’s a fly in the room that wouldn’t leave. The shower was so small and dark. There are little flies in there while you take a shower. Our room was the first one and next to the dumpster, which has garbage all over the ground. We were so disappointed this time. I hope they would renovate all the rooms and not let anyone stay in a room like this again.

Not a place for families. Booked a room for a guest coming from out of state. It looked fine online but it was pretty gross. Staff was very confused during check in and tried to charge us twice. When they got to the room the door was wide open ( as if it was being aired out) and there were cockroaches inside. My guest said the room key stopped working and he had to go get help from the office late at night. Seedy and not well maintained.

Checking in was a terrible experience, proprietor seemed to have no record of my reservation and told me I was 'lucky to get his last room'. While a 'non smoking room' the room smelled like a moldy ashtray that has been long forgotten in an abandoned car. The hotel got high rankings for eco friendliness as we got no towels and I am not sure if the linens were done from the prior guest. The room was in bad shape as the door to the bathroom was off its hing and would not shut and the 'stained' drapes were falling off their rods.

Stayed for only 1 night, but met all my expectations and requirements. The young man at the desk was very welcoming and pleasant.
