Villa Avantgarde B&B

The location of the villa is perfect as it is really easy to access the beaches and sites such as Mlini, Cavtat and Dubrovnik Old town. The facilities and rooms are spotless, comfortable and very well kept. Near the villa there is a bar area with a refreshing swimming pool. The staff makes customers feel right at home and spend significant personal time providing information about where to go, what to see and what to avoid. A truly remarkable experience, especially due to the personal touch. In the apartment we had a small terrace with a kitchen, great value for money. The town of Mlini was a great surprise, it is absolutely beautiful, it was not as uncomfortable to visit as other towns in the area, there is absolutely no need for a car.

The staff were so welcoming and the service excellent, even for the buffet. Very clean. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The pools are lovely, plenty of sun beds. Contemporary design of the building and interiors.

The place is run by Anna, who does everything, but nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast (8-10) consists of fresh bread, cheese and a choice of meats which are brought to your table. There is also fruit, cereal and tea and coffee. The pool is very small, but clean and the area is nice with sea view. There are small parts of the road with no pavement so not a good place for wheel chairs or prams. We only went to Dubrovnik old town once, we did day trips to Montenegro, Bosnia and a day trip on a pirate boat to 3 islands. The bus fare was a flat 15 kuna (about £1.80). They drive on the right, so when you go to the bus stop for dubrovnik you need to be on the right. The bus stops are very near to the hotel. There are 2 ways to get to the beach, one involves lot of stairs, the other doesn't. If you come out of the hotel and turn right, walk down to the lights at the junction and then turn left and follow the road down it will take you past bars and restaurants to the beach. It is well lit of a night, and safer than dealing with stairs with no hand rail.

As the hotel is run by one woman, she cannot maintain a 24 hour reception. Not knowing this, I checked in around 2230. After finally getting ahold of her, my check in went smoothly. She showed me the garage to park in and my large room that opens into the breakfast area. The place is pretty quiet and I would gladly stay here again. I even added a few days to my stay.

The stay in that hotel was very good, very nice rooms, very nice people who care that hotel. It was a nice swimming pool... perfect stay

Very smart little hotel, professionally run. The rooms are generously sized and well equipped with large bed (two singles pushed together) sofa, TV, desk, balcony and decent shower room (although the water was initially cold because the power switch had be turned off). The breakfast was a good tasty continental spread. Outside the pool was small and neat with sunbeds around. We didn't get the chance to walk to the beach that was nearby. Close to the hotel were several restaurants and other amenities. The bus into Dubrovnik is very quick, convenient and cheap. Don't be tempted by taxis!

We were told Avant garde was in Dubrovnik and its in Mlini ! All printed info on confirmation was incorrect regarding distances to tourist spots,as was Google map directions and Hotel.com site info. It felt like a bait and switch situation (on the hotel's part).

Nice and clean and very good and friendly service, but the site (including your search engine) indicated 0.8 km to the old city hall (an easy walking distance) and it was more like 8 km from it, which meant I had to take the random city bus, not at all what I had in mind. Is the info provided by the hotels ever verified?

What a great find! Rooms are modern, clean, comfy, and with plenty of space. Kitchen has all the equipment you need to cook up a nice meal if you're travelling on a budget. An AMAZING breakfast is provided in the morning by the owner (a lovely, friendly lady) and she can answer any of your questions about the local area such as how to get around e.t.c. The hotel is a 10 minute bus ride from the Old Town and runs frequently. Situated about 5 mins walk from the hotel are mini markets and a really nice bakery. Also, the hotel is just a 10 minute walk from a beach, harbour and restaurant area where you can relax or book an excursion. I couldn't recommend this place enough.
