Aaron's Cottage was a great place to stay. It's near the Hilo Bay shore and practically next door to a beautiful public beach park. The owner worked with me on a self check-in so that I could arrive at 11:30 pm. The in-room fridge was nice to have and was supplemented by a nearby communal kitchen with a larger fridge, cooktop, microwave, and toaster. The on-site trees coupled with the ocean breeze kept the room comfortable, but there was a small air conditioner for warmer times of the day. Aaron's Cottage is on a quiet dead end street but still within minutes of downtown amenities. The wifi is very good. My room had a nice Roku television, but why go to Hawaii to watch TV? Skip the glitz and choose simpler amenities with a relaxing atmosphere.

Aaron’s cottage was a great place to stay. Granted we only stayed one night, but it was clean, quiet, convenient and comfy (however the pillows were extremely thin). For someone like me that has neck issues it could’ve been a problem (manager: May want to check the pillows and replace them). However I travel with my own pillow bc I expect these types of things so it was no biggie for me. Otherwise…GREAT stay!

I stayed at Aaron's cottage for two nights and it was a great experience. The cottage was cozy, equipped with all the amenities you could need. It had AC, fans, hot water, a comfortable bed, a kitchenette and full bathroom. The place is easy to find and there is a nice beach within walking distance. The place is ideal for staying in the Hilo area or for day trips to Volcanoes National Park, or drive to the top of Mauna Kea (4WD required). Several great local restaurants as well as supermarkets around the area.

The place is old and needs some attention. Walls are thin you hear everything from the sneeze of your neighbours and relentless barage of birds and airplanes. If you have auditory sensitivity this definitely is not a place to sleep. Otherwise central to some great snorkelling spots close to the waterfalls and downtown Hilo.

We have returned to Aaron's cottage for a third time and enjoyed our stay again.

The room was very nice !! We both had good nights sleep in a Comfortable bed !! Entry to the room was easy !! Appreciate the covered parking !!

Great place

I actually loved this property. However, I wanted sit out in the courtyard next to the stone mini pond, but I could not because the flat stone area was covered in over an inch of mold slime. The property said we could pick fruit off the trees. I picked a papaya- it the thick mold/sludge under my feet caused me to slip and grossed me out. I had to wash my flip flops and feet. That area just needs to be scraped and cleaned so that guests can sit and take advantage of the water mini pond, lush vegetation area.
