Location was good.

The check-in experience felt really strange and quite uncomfortable, which unfortunately didn’t make for the best first impression. It was also a shame, as I had booked this place partly because of the many great reviews mentioning Barry, so my expectations were quite high based on previous guest experiences. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t really live up to that. The bed was also very uncomfortable, so we didn’t sleep particularly well during our stay.

The room was quite spacious and quiet, the beds just the right size. It was clear that in the past, this had been a grand hotel, now slightly past its prime. Breakfast was excellent, with a wonderful view of the river and Waterford on the opposite bank. Dinner, however, was nothing special. Nearby, there are beautiful beaches and forest walks.

The cleanliness was below standard.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff were amazing and so friendly.

The bath towels are small, no USB charger fixtures on the plug sockets. Also the bedside lamps lights were very bright, like really bright. These are minor things as the hotel is great. A fridge would have been nice too.

It was perfect for what I wanted and only a short walk to the town and the food was excellent and great value. The staff were very friendly and helpful
