The Scholar

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with smiles, and everybody going out of their way to make things special for us. We were on a friendship tour of over 50 years and we had a sweet little note card waiting in the room for us. All the accommodations were excellent. With highly recommend staying here.

Das Frühstück war deutlich umfangreicher, als man es sonst so kennt, geschmacklich ganz hervorragend. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig und man kommt aber trotzdem auch zu fuss zu allen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Das Scholar hat nach dem Umbau deutlich an Qualität gewonnen

The Scholar is superb as always! Comfort to the letter and the rooms are immaculate, lovely location and superb customer service. We don't hesitate to book when up in Edinburgh.

Changes to the Breakfast lounge - a lot more intimate and cosy, we did rather the old furnishings but that's personal preference as it's nice to sit on a table and not a snug/sofa type set up alongside others. No longer a buffet hot breakfast but made to order. No change to standard but wait time was long. We enjoy being able to select our own hot food for breakfast but I wonder if the pre order is to reduce waste. It somehow didn't feel quite as relaxed with the new changes.

Sehr gute Lage, nur 20 Minuten mit dem Bus bis zur Altstadt. In einem Park gelegen, sehr ruhig.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich, aber nicht gut organisiert. Man muss sehr viel Geduld beim Frühstück aufbringen. Der Tee war nicht wirklich ein Tee, nur ein Teebeutel auf eine große Kanne...

Bella la struttura, camera ampia e luminosa. Ottima la posizione vicino al centro. Molto comodo il bus che ferma esattamente davanti alla struttura. In zona tranquilla e a due passi dal parco. Staff disponibile e cordiale

Non ho amato la colazione con scelta da menù avrei preferito un servizio più rapido con buffet

Aside from the excellent accommodations, it’s the staff that made my stay most wonderful. Felt like home. The Abacus restaurant staff was especially caring and hospitable—thanks especially to Annalise and Saul, whose welcome went beyond the practice of good service into genuine care and making this place a home. I ate at the restaurant four mornings and five nights and the food was simply excellent.

Friendly staff, great location, and nice beds. Everyone we encountered was so nice and friendly. We loved that it is in a quieter corner of the city, but close enough to walk to most places.

Breakfast was a bit disappointing - fresh avocado would have been welcome and the gluten free bread was very poor
