Personal note on the table when you entered the room, Welcoming you to the hotel. Plenty of Information was also on the table as was tea/coffee and water. There was no tv in the room, so just a heads up about that. Did not bother us at all. Evening meal was excellent, yes a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. (All locally sourced) I loved my steak, didn't need a steak knife, just melted as you cut through it. Deserts were also lovely. Nice to see pump bottles of shampoo, body wash in the bathroom. Some other nice touches we also in there. Nice room with a view of the gardens and a 200/300 year building that is still in use.

Not much was wrong with the hotel. Our friends had mobility issues and you need to get up 2 steps to get to the restaurant. Not a mark down for that as it's a 200/300 year old building. But you can sit by the bar with no access problems.

Ideal as a fishing trip hotel, quiet with good food and service. Room needed updating - secondary glazing for road noise makes room hot and stale. New mattress and shower fitting required.

Bed was comfortable. Convenient parking. Excellent breakfast. Dog friendly.

Had to climb stairs to room. Shower control was not good. Sink faucets were reversed and separate. Overhead lighting would not turn off completely. Although the described facilities did not include a TV, it is so unusual not to have one we probably would not have stayed if we had noticed prior to booking. Restaurant menu did not include simple fare with familiar flavours. Had to collect a room heater from reception.
