Hotel Yamagata Hills Ekimae Odori

The hotel situated from a walkable distance from JR Yamagata train station. The checkin-checkout procedure was fast and smooth. We were informed that we can get free small breakfast (bread + drinks) each morning which was nice. The room was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable.

We stayed 2 nights at APA Hotel Yamagata-Ekimae-Odori from 7th Nov to 9th Nov. The hotel situated from a walkable distance from JR Yamagata train station. The checkin-checkout procedure was fast and smooth. We were informed that we can get free small breakfast (bread + drinks) each morning which was nice (we didn't end up coming down to take it though since we don't usually have breakfast ^^"). The room was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. The aircon/heater was central control so we couldn't adjust temperature of the room which was a bit annoying since everytime it gets too hot we had to open the window and since the hotel is next to main road it was a bit noisy. The bathroom was surprising big but the bathtub was a bit odd the way they built it. Wifi signal was pretty good and stable. The space between the table in the room and the bed was kinda tiny so anyone with long legs would have problem sitting in that space! Overall, for the price we paid for, we were happy with the hotel.

Perfect because near the station, many cafes and restaurants in he street where it is situated. Cozy room (I had a single - riptide wasn't big but I had everything I need). A little bit cold in winter, but you can turn on the air conditioner to heat the room. Breakfast is really lite: just coffee/tea and white bread with jam.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently. It's easy enough to find, it's basically up the main street in a straight line from the Yamagata train station. For some reason I had the idea that APA hotels were of decent quality, but this one sadly missed the mark for us a bit. The room size was typical for Japan, but the pillows were very uncomfortable (filled with some kind of tiny beads?). The toilet was dodgy, it sometimes kept running water after flushing and the button got stuck or wouldn't push down. Aside from that it was okay. The TV worked, the lights worked, and all the buttons on the control panel beside the bed worked, as did the fridge. It was just dated and could use some repairing.

We checked in last night and while I have no problem with the size of the room, I do have problems with the absolute filth, lack of care and overall condition of the hotel. Our shower has mold growing in it, the toilt is broken, the phone does not work, the control panel next to the bed has broken buttons hanging out, the mattress has broken springs and the pillows are filled what I can only assume are microbeads. It is like sleeping on a beanbag. We also paid for a non smoking room, which reaks of cigarettes. I have never bothered to take the time to write a negative review of a hotel, but this one is appalling.

The room was very small with no closet and no place to put my luggage except on the floor to step over. The bathroom was clean but had only a soaking tub with side 2 1/2 feet from floor. Having knee problems, I was unable to step over the side and into the tub. Used sink to shampoo and bathe. I checked out after the first night and found hotel with regular tub. Continental breakfast consisted of coffee and bread rolls wrapped in cellophane.

Room was very small but manageable. Perfunctory is the word that comes to mind. The facilities were clean, but as minimal as possible. Outlets were scarce, though the front desk had an extension card I could borrow. There is breakfast included but it's really only bread/toast, margarine, jam, and coffee/tea drinks. Etc, etc. I would have been happier staying here for business than with a friend.

We loved it here. The star rating system here seems different. We were expecting less but were pleasantly surprised with how good the service and room amentities were. We lived the bathroom and slept well, as it was very quiet.

Just a night

Nice hotel, good service, good location, the only down side is room size too small.
