Port Hotel

The location was good, the reception/ bar plays nice music and the room was clean.

We stayed in a friends and family room. We weren’t aware that this room was in the basement (this is detailed on the hotel website but it’s not obvious when booking via booking.com) and we were very disappointed as it was dark and didn’t look like the photos at all - we wouldn’t have booked this room if we’d have known it was in the basement. The breakfast food was nice but the kitchen was missing ingredients on both mornings of our stay so we had a limited choice. The breakfast price didn’t even include a proper coffee either (only filter coffee) which felt quite petty given the price of the room. The staff were mixed and although the hotel bar is advertised as open until 11pm/12am depending on the day of the week, one night the bar didn’t open at all and the other night we ordered drinks at around 9.30pm and the staff seemed very unhappy with this and made loud comments about cashing out/ closing up which made us feel very unwelcome.

Arrived tired and grumpy, but 5 mins sitting in front of the sea view in our 2nd floor bow window-fronted room and relaxation took delicious hold. Wished we had had more than 1 night's stay. Calming decor, super shower, helpful staff; delicious breakfast.

As a solo traveller i felt safe and relaxed in comfortable surroundings. A real treat

Parking is very very difficult. We got lucky and managed to park nearby but I think that is the exception. It is a reflection on Eastbourne though not the hotel. Best to visit by train. No breakfast served mon - fri

Fabulous sea views from our 2nd floor room (including from the loo!). Appreciated the decor; comfy bed and good linen; excellent shower. Room size also great. Super breakfast. Staff helpful.

Quite tricky to open the heavy sliding door to the bathroom as there is only a tiny finger-pull. We got very hot in the night, even though it was a cold one. We fixed it by opening all the windows and leaving the curtains open - meant we could hear the sea (but of course also the traffic along the esplanade).
