I liked everything

The hotel is very peaceful and scenic. Good access to resturants as well as the clubhouse which is a short walk away which has good options as well. We enjoyed a buffet the night that we arrived and the second night, we ate at Basils and that was a lovely experience with excellent food. Would definitely recommend the lamb chops as it was one of the best I've had in this province. The room itself was clean and neat and a decent size.

In my opinion, the price for the room seems a little steep especially since breakfast is not included in the price. The food in the buffet was good but care should be taken to not include stocks and animal derivatives in items that are meant to be vegetarian friendly. The food at Basils was lovely, however, we ordered the ice cream trio and it arrived at our table semi melted. One of the ice creams also had ice particles/flakes as if the ice cream was a bit older perhaps or not stored well and thawed and then refrozen.

I stayed at Protea Hotel by Marriott Polokwane Ranch Resort from 26 Apr - 27 Apr, and it turned out to be one of the most special experiences of my life. On the 26th, I proposed to my girlfriend there, and everything about the resort made the moment unforgettable. I booked two rooms, a Standard Room, which was already extremely nice, and the Presidential Suite (OG1), which the staff prepared beautifully for the proposal. They went above and beyond with a romantic rose-heart setup on the bed that looked absolutely incredible. My girlfriend had no idea what was planned. When we arrived, I surprised her with a hot stone spa treatment at the clubhouse spa. The staff were incredibly friendly and even transported us around the resort on golf carts, dropping her off at the spa while I went back to prepare everything for the proposal. After the spa, we enjoyed cocktails by the pool before going on a game drive. We saw all sorts of animals, and the guide made the experience even better with his great sense of humor and friendly personality. Later that evening, I told my girlfriend I had one more surprise for her. I led her through the beautiful romantic garden pathway until we reached the door to the OG1 suite. When I opened the door and she saw the room setup, tears immediately started forming in her eyes. She walked toward the bed where there was a small box placed in the middle of the roses. I told her to open it... there was nothing inside. Then I asked her to turn around, and I was there on one knee holding the ring. That was the day we got engaged. The entire experience was perfect. The service was amazing, the food was great, and the effort the staff put into every preparation was truly next level. The resort feels luxurious and fancy while still being warm and down to earth at the same time. I honestly would love to get married here one day.
