"Amazing B&B"

10.0

I stayed at St Benedict for one night while exploring Hastings and Bexhill area. This B&B is something very special. It's almost worth the trip to Hastings just to stay here. The Victorian decor is wonderful. It is really like stepping back into the era. The collection is vast - every inch of the house has so much to discover. The garden is also beautiful. I stayed in the former nursery on the top floor, which now has a large bed and a wonderful view to the ocean. As is often the case with old houses, I had my own bathroom just down the hall rather than ensuite. (A bathrobe was provided.) Note that the bathing arrangements are Victorian also - being a bath without a shower. Breakfast was served in the dining room with all guests seated around the large, beautifully laid dining table. A hot and cold buffet is served using period crockery and utensils. This B&B won't suit those who want all the 'modcons' - no TV here. Don't worry - the rooms have power outlets for charging your modern gadgets and a kettle secreted under a tea cosy. A unique experience. The owners are lovely offering guests advice and lifts when they can.

"Great attention to detail"

10.0

St Benedict takes you back to Victorian times in all aspects. The house has been furnished with fantastic attention to detail; it's in a quiet location in a very attractive part of St Leonards on Sea. The breakfast was superb. With hindsight, we should have booked the room with the shower, an oversight on my part.

"Expected more"

6.0

We visited the hotel during the owners' absence. We were greeted in a rushed and chaotic manner, but at least did not have to wait half an hour to be met as did other guests.

"Great experience"

10.0

Simply brilliant, great hosts, wonderful décor, lots of fun. We arrived in the early evening, pulled the bell pull and entered an enchanting Victorian world that had us smiling all the way to our room. Sea views and the quirky, but charming, bathroom added to our enjoyment, as did the tea and home made Victoria sponge cake served in the sitting room. Breakfast was wonderful and plentiful

"Amazing Place"

10.0

It is obvious from this B&B that the owners have dedicated a lot of time, energy and love into it. It has been restored wonderfully and is full of interesting antiques and objects. It didn't have a shower in the bathroom, which would normally bother me, but I didn't care because I was in such beautiful surroundings, including the roll top bath which I was happy to relax in. Now for the practical stuff - its about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the train station, it looked as though there was off street parking available, the rooms were perfectly clean, the breakfast was great and the owners were very accommodating.

"Victorian!"

10.0

Very unique B&B. Those who are keen about history or Victorian theme, this is the place to be. The B&B can be museum itself with its furnichure and decor. One can experience how people lived in the era.
