Hampton Inn & Suites Seattle/Federal Way

We stayed here for 1 night on the 20th in room 227. When we checked in it was about 50 minutes early, we were told they usually charge a $50.00 fee for early check in. Lucky for us they waived it. Never before have I seen this fee before at any other Hampton and when we first heard of it before it was waived it almost set a bad tone for us. But we over looked it and they did too. Hotel was clean. Pool area was also cleaned and you see them checking on it to make sure all then chemicals are correct. Fitness room equipment also worked well. One elevator is not working. Our room was quiet, bed was comfortable but the furnishings like the dresser, vanity etc. were definitely dated and worn out. Television is not a smart TV so you cannot run your apps. At first we were not sure how the staff would be because of our initial early check in issue, but honestly staff was great. We interreacted with two of them and enjoyed both of the front desk ladies. We had an early flight so we had to check out at 4 A.M. We asked for places to eat and one told us of all the options around us to eat and her suggestions were great. Glad we tried it. The only drawbacks we saw was pay to park, we usually do not have to do that on this side of the country. I hope they do away with it in the future and the pool closing so early. They should leave it open later, it is not too close to rooms so why not? Overall good location, lots of places to shop and eat close by and we would say try East India Grill right there in the parking lot. It was delicious. About 15 miles to the Airport and in the middle between Tacoma and Seattle. Would we stay here again? Absolutely. I would give this hotel a 7.5 – 8 out of 10 compared to other Hamptons we have stayed at. Staff was quite wonderful.

Breakfast options were good and very filling. Location was accessible and close to many stores and restaurants.

The area where you get food is small and space is very tight with people getting crammed lining up to get food. It took us a while to get food overall since they only have 2 waffle maker and people were lining up for it and you can’t just easily access the food that you specifically want without disturbing the line. The space was very tight with people lining up for food. The configuration of the food area was very poor. Our AC did not work in the first room assigned to us so they had to move us to a different room on the main level which fairly was a little bigger and better configuration than the first room that we got. The bathroom was disappointing since every time we use the water in the tub, the shower automatically turns on and you get sprayed with cold water while still adjusting the temperature. The water in the shower does not get hot enough. The cold water marking gives you hot water and the hot water marking gives you cold water which was annoying in the shower. Every time we need something from our room they would tell us to go to the main desk to get it since housekeeping can be busy & would take a while. One person that is tending the breakfast area was pretty rude in front of us. I accidentally spilled some batter for the waffle and he got pretty upset and said “darn it” in front of us which made me very uneasy and uncomfortable as a customer having a staff getting upset at you for something that was an accident. There were other instances during breakfast that was very disappointing with the service. The hot tub was not working and not usable when we used the pool area and the pool water was a bit cold. Overall we were disappointed during our stay at this hotel being it a Hampton Hotel.

The night staff was super great! Housekeeping was very nice considering they had to work during the holidays. I didn't have my room cleaned or the linen changed, but I was fine with that. I kept everything pretty tidy myself. When we needed more Kleenex they had no problem providing it. The room was beautiful and clean!

The breakfast. The eggs were horrible the muffins were too sweet and the fruit wasn't that good. I think they should have the same breakfast as the Embassy Suites by the Hilton in Tukwila, Wa. They had the best breakfast I've ever had in hotel. Also, the elevator was out of order. The TV was too dark and there wasn't a setting to make it brighter.
