"Lovely hotel but walls are way too thin"

The hotel was lovely don’t get me wrong, I stayed two nights and was given a lovely warm welcome. The room was basic but nicely decorated and had everything I needed. The only downside was the lack of soundproofing. As other reviews have stated the walls are so thin you can hear people just speaking at a low volume. I was able to hear the man next door to me having a casual phone conversation. After realising how thin the walls were I felt extremely uncomfortable. As a result I hardly spent any time in my room, choosing instead to go spend the day and evening at a friend’s accommodation nearby. But when I came back later that night I lay awake listening to the snoring from the room next door, it was so loud it sounded as though the person was in the room with me. As someone who also snores very loudly this made me feel very self conscious that the other rooms would be able to hear me as well. Again the hotel has its charms and is situated in a lovely area, but overall I would not stay again due to the soundproofing problem.

Bar area was nice, staff were friendly and good parking. Accommodating with late check out

Room was tiny and very old fashioned, as well as far too warm. Even with the windows wide open the room would not cool down. Didn’t feel like it was good value for money.

"Different but definitely worth a try."

Overall service from all staff. Good central position. Good selection of drinks at the bar. Nice breakfast but didn't try dinner.

No lift available.. 76 yr old with case found it problematic. Older building with noisy floors. General cleaning to good standards but radiators full of dust under the top cover.
