The room was clean. Breakfast was ok.

No staff on reception! No staff in the bar! No access to the hotel on arrival! Just a number to phone, which took me to a machine message in Danish. I don't speak Danish. Keys were in a machine with no operating instructions. Without the assistance of a Danish friend I would still be waiting to enter the hotel. Even when the key card was finally obtained there was no room number, necessitating a further call to the Danish-speaking machine message. This hotel is not welcoming to its guests.

Das Hotel war geschlossen, wir kamen spät nachmittags nicht hinein. Keine Möglichkeit hineinzukommen. Zum Glück konnten wir es kostenfrei stornieren.

Der var megen støj fra radiator / ventilation

Breakfast was fine as were the staff (when there actually were any). Cleanliness was exemplary, rooms a bit bare but good ensuite and bedding. By railway line, but not intrusive. Location not bad, a short walk to the marina.

The downgrading to what would otherwise have been a fair to good experience was the check-in. No indication on booking that it would be remote check-in and that we would need a code and room number. Sent a confirmatory message via booking.com to property that our arrival would be 1900 which was acknowledged. On arrival, property was impenetrable, no staff. Phoned number on door, took the "English" option which then switched permanently to recorded Danish on next choice. Finally found a Danish friend who could navigate the phone system and got hold of a human and was given a code for the key. Code not the same as room number. More phone calls for the room number. Solution? (other than employing some staff). Indicate on booking that it will be a remote check in, and code and room number will be required. From standard check-in time send the information via booking.com app, and telephone/text.
