TRADEWINDS VILLAS

Holiday apartments, no credit cards accepted. Ripped curtain over main bed. No hot water for 24 hours. No TV reception. Internet reception poor. No hairdryer. No toaster. Air-con and ceiling fan sound like a steam train. Pool not clean. 15 minutes from town centre. poorly equipped kitchen. shower head loose and kept falling. One of the worst stays I have ever had.

The Villas are adequately supplied in the kitchen and bathroom. Good quality bed linen with netting over a comfortable big bed. Fan worked well, open clothes hanging area, mesh at windows (no glass). My joy was sitting in the porch area looking at the beautifully set out grounds with pool. 15 minutes walk to town, 8 minutes to a general store that was well equipped. Receptionist very pleasant and helpful and in the Office all day. My only complaint was, sadly, the noise from the local folk at night.. Having no TV in the Villa, you had no distraction from it.

In July 2019 I made two reservations at Tradewinds Villas for December 2019 & January 2020. The December stay was fine although a full upgrade/renovation is needed, but you get what you pay for including barking & fighting dogs! However, although I paid in full in July 2019 for the January 2020 booking, on arrival we were told that ‘someone’ had changed the booking & we spent the first night at an awful establishment quite nearby called ‘Whispering Coral’. The other 2 nights we were put into Seachange Lodge. I was shocked, then angry. How can they take your money upfront & put you somewhere else! I would have been much happier staying at Tradewinds. The location of Tradewinds, on a flat road where it was easy to walk into town or catch a local bus was much better for my husband. The view from the swimming pool area was very pleasant. Ian, who manages all the properties was a nice, very helpful guy, but I cannot condone the accommodation change when we had paid 6 months in advance. It has certainly put me off. I suggest the ‘someone’ who made the change (& I suspect it wasn’t Ian) should be admonished & ashamed for their lack of ethics!

Very comfortable place to stay. Close to everything,just hop on a mini bus. Hosts couldn't have been more helpful. Quiet area. Pool great. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back next year

The location was great however on the last day I realized that our room got broken into the night before by someone removing the wooden planks in the room and someone cutting the mesh. When I spoke to the owner he relayed it has happened before but not in our room. I felt that if we had this information before it would’ve been helpful so I wouldn’t leave valuables in our room when we weren’t there...!

You pretty much get what you pay for here- mid range accommodation, pretty well located just a bit out of town. Bungalows themselves are pretty tired, and need a bit of an upgrade, particularly around the plumbing. Owners quite responsive to problems though, and seemed to address them quickly. Wifi only in common area, not rooms, but aircon available in rooms. Good to have a small kitchenette as eating out in Vila is expensive - good for longer stays as mine was. Variable kitchen utensils but serviceable.

Couple who have visited Vanuatu many times. This place must e Port Vila's best kept accommodation secret. It is close to town, has great views and villas sit in well kept, park like surrounds. The rooms are large, clean and airy combining a lovely light and peaceful feeling. Beds really comfortable, bathroom and kitchen perfect and fan/ ac all great. Best of all is the host, Ian. Lovely, helpful man who, by his contacts, found my backpack with all it's contained vaulables!!

I arrived but no one around to book me in and was lucky to find a couple who contacted the owner who then came to book me in. The bathroom was not clean the taps where not wiped down from the previous guests and still had water marks on them, there are groove marks in the face board of the sink in the bathroom filled with black dirt and grime not cleaned for a very long time. The A/C control did not work and neither did the TV control again the lovely couple next t Door contacted the owner who retuned sometime later with only the batteries for the A/C (i was told that the couple did send 2 messages advising that AAA and AA whrere needed) as it turns out the problem was not the batteries but the remote for the A/C was broken. I managed to get it on but could not turn it off but after numerous tries throughout the night eventually it went off. There was no one around that I saw before I left the next morning to advise them that the A/C controls did not function. I was only there one night as a stopover and maybe had I stayed longer it may have been a better experience but for the one night it was not a pleasant stay. I booked the hotel for the main reason of A/C that did not work properly and cable TV which I had to get out of bed to change channels and switch off not my idea of a relaxing night.

Originally booked in to Seachange but were moved to Tradewinds at no extra cost. Whilst the place is pleasant enough with a pool and glimpses of the lagoon, it really had nothing much going for it. It is very inward looking and sitting on the bungalow porch there was only a view of the other bungalow walls and garden. The bungalows were so dark that we had the lights on even in the middle of the day and the whole place had an air of tiredness about it. Had to sit in the covered area by the pool to access the internet which gets tedious after a while. Nothing terrible, just nothing very good either.

Booked this hotel for 12/1/18. Had arranged airport transfer, 11pm, and were taken to a different property without prior notification. The property was inferior to place we booked. Not similar in any way. Just a room, old as the hills, no aircon (which we paid for), one of the worst beds ever. At 11.30pm there is nothing you can do with no one at reception. To not be told we were being relocated is pathetic. Friends were to pick us up at 8am and with no way to tell them where we were, (mobile kiosks at airport are not open for late arrivals) they went to the address we were supposed to be at, and finally found someone to redirect them. So we paid for a property with facilities we did not get and were not advised of the relocation.
