Intourist Zaporozhie

My stay was very excellent and I plan to visit the city again next year.I would deffinatly recommend the hoetel to friends because of the cleanliness,food quality in restuarants,which was very good and the Hotel was very reasonbly priced and they have an excellent Breakfast buffet.

our recommendation is to stay in this hotel. The staff is extremely friendly, the Ukrainian restaurant "Korchma" is highly recommended because of the very tasteful and very authentic dishes, pleasant atmosphere, quite music... The hotel is air-conditioned, what is very important in July

Very nice, quiet and comfortable rooms.

Intourist Zaporozhye is easily the worst hotel I've stayed at. Rude stuff and terrible amenities. This is a converted Soviet hotel, so the first thing that will strike you is how small the rooms are. I had a standard suite with double bed - the bed took up what felt like half the room, excluding the bathroom. The second thing that will strike you is how.. industrial.. Zaporozhye is. I could see over 25 smokestacks from the window of my 8th-floor room. Despite the cramped rooms and low cost of labor (avg. income in Ukraine is ~$5000), the hotel charges as much as or more than a comparable Western hotel. The hotel never misses an opportunity to advertise itself as a 4-star hotel - on the practically every wall in the hotel, on their complimentary stationery, on their restaurant menus. Even the robe they put in your bathroom has "Intourist ****" plastered on the breast pocket. That's your first indication you're not staying at a real 4-star hotel. The second is the tiny rooms. The third is that the hotel basement is a strip club. The fourth is that in their restaurants, instead of giving a complimentary mint with the bill, they give a stick of doublemint gum. The fifth is the porters and waiters who ignore you when you're clearly trying to get their attention. The sixth is the rudimentary breakfast buffet. The seventh is that their systems can't process credit cards electronically. And on and on. I can't stress it enough: avoid Intourist Zaporozhye at all costs.

The hotel was of much higher quality than I expected. It is a 4 or 5 star by eastern europe standards and a solid 3 star by western europe standards. The room was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The internet connection was cable only, but it was fast and reliable. Breakfast was adequate - nothing to brag about, but nothing to complain about. The room price was a little on the high side considering the local wages and cost of living, but it wasn't outrageous.
