Hjerting Badehotel - Esbjerg

This is an overly expensive hotel but it did not live up to our expectations. The first room we were given was dark and dingy overlooking the car park. The rooms are accessed by a very narrow dark corridor. I understand it is an old building but when you have to climb over laundry trolleys it is not acceptable. I asked for a change of room and we were charged an extra £80 for what turned out to be a very poorly decorated/finished room also overlooking the car park. We had no privacy at all, the air conditioning was a portable unit which was noisy but better than nothing. In our opinion the refurbishment of this hotel was completed by amateur trades people. The finishings were very poor and the furniture and fittings were average to poor quality with the cheapest possible fridge, hairdryer and kettle. This was our fourth hotel in the Esbjerg area during our week long visit and it was definitely the most expensive but also the most disappointing. There is no staff who help with luggage or at least there was no offer from anyone to help very elderly guests who had difficulty walking never mind hauling their luggage. The breakfast buffet was slightly better than average but the breakfast staff had to be told to clear the tables which made the experience very awkward for them and for us. I would not recommend this hotel which is a pity as it is ideally placed and has two pretty good restaurants. The bar staff were extremely accommodating when I asked for an ice bucket. The receptionist on being told that the room we were allocated was not suitable and that I was shocked at how poor/dull and dark it was, as previously described she clearly wasn't interested and stated that no one else had every complained about the room!!! Clearly she was not prepared to acknowledge that someone in the car park looking into your room which meant you had to draw the curtains (of a room that was extremely dark anyway) to get any privacy was acceptable and that I was the only guest who had complained - not a good start. I have to say that it is obvious that this hotel has very good reviews and that most guests have not had the same experience as my husband and I had and to that end I have to accept that I must be very a very discerning guest who doesn't like being ripped off for what is in my opinion a very poor experience. I would like to add that we have travelled all over the world and stayed in numerous hotels and as such are very experienced travellers.

Très bel endroit authentique et petite maisonnette cosy.

Excellent hotel with very nice apartment style rooms. The dining facilities were very nice, good food and great view. We tried using the laundry facilities on-site, but it seemed it hadn't been used in some time and the staff was unfamiliar with the machines. This would be my only critique of the property, which is very minor and usually not why customers seek out a nice hotel. Overall an excellent facility.

Wir hatten wie immer einen wundervollen Aufenthalt, das Hotel hat ein traumhaftes Ambiente, das Frühstück ist perfekt, und unser Ferienhaus sehr gemütlich. Kleiner Hinweis: wir haben in der wirklich gut ausgestatteten Küche Suppenteller vermisst, aber das ist schon Jammern auf hohem Niveau

Stedet trænger til en grundig rengøring og vedligeholdelse, særligt bad var synligt beskidt, services og maden på stedet er helt i top, ærgerligt at værelse ikke lever op til stedet udtryk og pris.

Super betjening og højt serviceniveau. Beliggenheden fremragende. Vi kommer gerne tilbage og kan varmt anbefale stedet.

Helt fantastisk. God indtjekning, følte os meget velkomne og var gode til at indformerer. Hotellet var utrolig hyggeligt, lige fra restauranterne til værelserne. Personalet var utrolig imødekommende og hjalp, hvis der var noget. Bestemt ikke sidste gang vi skal derover
