"Beautiful setting"

8.0

Nice hotel and staff tried hard to communicate though had little English! Nice location and hotel was comfortable. Limited menu in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Beware with checking in. The hotel didn't open until about 5pm so was hanging around which you don't fancy doing if you've been travelling all day. If in the area we would return though.

"Beautiful area and hotel, a little over priced"

8.0

Lovely quiet place in the middle of lovely countryside. Very quiet, especially as there was only one other person staying. Our hostess was very welcoming. Our room was small but had a very comfortable bed and nice linen. The evening meal was very limited choice as it was a Monday night and the restaurant was not open to the public. The food was not brilliant. However the breakfast was excellent. Great place for families in the season as lots of land to walk, a children's playground and a zip wire area. Felt it was quite expensive for what we got, especially in comparison with other places we had stayed during our holiday.

"Perfect overnight en-route to the south."

10.0

A delightful overnight stop en-route from Calais to Spain. Will go back and stay for longer - beautiful location and excellent dinner served by the very friendly owner. Maybe the occasional picture or dried flower arrangement in the fire place of our enormous room would just have added a little warmth to an otherwise perfect stay.

"A gastronomic treat!"

10.0

Immediately on arrival, we were made to feel welcome by this pleasant and friendly couple who could not do enough to make our stay memorable. The bedrooms are large, spacious and airy with extremely comfortable beds, spotless bed linen and a good-sized bathroom/shower. The location is stunning with beautiful scenery. One really feels as if one has got back to nature. Theodora, the chef, is a master restaurateur and it shows! She cooks with locally sourced, best quality produce and produces a fine dining experience which is truly outstanding. Didier pairs each course with superb wines which complement the food magnificently. On warm summer evenings, one eats out on the terrace admiring the stunning scenery. What could be more perfect? Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to stay an extra night but it was well worth it just to experience the amazing food one more time. This couple are passionate about what they do and it really shows! Anyone who appreciates good food and wine will adore this place! I can't wait to return and sample more of Theodora's food! Breakfast was also excellent and very good value. A couple of small things with regard to the rooms - a box of tissues, proper glasses (not plastic), a face flannel and some quality toiletries in the bathroom would not cost much to provide and would give the hotel a more upmarket feel.

Was Ok did not feel welcome though due to restrictions getting in and out and being told by other people operating other facilities in the complex that we could not enter - only early morning or after 7pm. Downstairs hotel consisted of dining room only no lounge area

"Le Gessau - perfect for all ages"

2.0

The activities around the hotel cater extremely well for the young and young at heart. After 7pm when the activities close, the quiet and peace which decends is tangible. The couple running the hotel are lovely, and really good at what they do. Why am I saying this, I want to keep it to myself.
