Colle San Mauro

The location was rural and pretty. The furnishings throughout the accommodation were extremely tasteful. The pool was clean. The breakfast was very nice. The bed was comfortable with high quality bedlinen.

We arrived on a Sunday, the restaurant was packed, there were people milling around everywhere, there was no signage to indicate whether we were at the right address, where to park, whether the restaurant was holding a private function or whether we could order a drink and bite to eat there. We were wandering aimlessly around with our baggage, as were others, feeling awkward and looking for reception. After finding an area with phone reception, we rang the empty reception and a haughty woman arrived, her greeting was not warm and friendly and she gave the aura that we were intruding on her private space (which of course we may well have been) it was as if the property owners had hit upon hard times and had reluctantly and begrudgingly opened the space to tourists. She ushered us to our room, gave us the key and rushed off hastily. We were gobsmacked at the unwelcome vibe of it all, the whole experience was bizarre, creepy and disconcerting. We felt like intruders. There was no welcome information pack in the room. There was nowhere to plug the kettle in other than the bathroom floor which we felt was unhygienic. Check out was a whole bunch of confusion, we went to reception to check out, as one would expect to do, we were frogmarched by a woman to the restaurant who then left us and went back to the hotel to get another woman to operate the eftpos machine, a 5 minute wait of awkward silence, unsure whether we should have been waiting in the restaurant or accompanying her back to the hotel. Alex Polizzi needs to visit this place ASAP to teach management how to "smile darling" and to emphasise the importance of clear signage and information on what the hotel has to offer.

Very comfortable with children. The pool area was really nice.

The place is amazing. We loved the fact that the hotel is surrounded by olive trees and fruit woods. The room and bathroom were very clean, the whole property is decorated with taste. Clean swimming pool with beautiful view on the nearby hills. The host was very helpful.

The room was way to small for a family of 4

A must if you are visiting caltagirone! Such a lovely peaceful place! Ample space for kids to enjoy Pool area is beautiful Buffet breakfast is delicious and home made

Location is out of the way but since they advertised an on-site restaurant we chose the hotel. Unfortunately the restaurant did not open for dinner which meant going back to town.
