Hotel Diego De Almagro Costanera - Antofagasta

Only stayed one night here. That was enough. Hotel definitely showing its age. In-room air conditioning was old and noisy. Room furnishings were very dated also. Reasonably clean fortunately. The only good side was the restaurant served good quality food for dinner and breakfast the next morning. As the hotel is tall with many floor, street noise is not much of a problem. So I slept well ready for a long day of travel and work. Was good enough for the purpose of a stopover on the way to the mines.

Very nice rooms comfortable, nice facilities, gently services from the desktop until all the staff there. The restaurant is a very nice option to get a dinner, launch, great breakfast buffet, and very nice location. Near to the downtown and all the commerce such as mall and the mercado. As suggestion, as main course "Risotto de Camaron" as the pic shows... lovely a paradise for your feelings. Enjoy your stay here. Fully recommended. Cheers

Bad smell at the room (body smell). Bathroom very clean. Breakfast a little poor. Good Location. Bad acoustic isolation at the windows.

I was fortunate enough just to stay one night in this pricey imitation hotel. Front desk service was terrible. After a long trip from Miami I stayed in 6th floor room 618 where the AC were not working and if you need to lend an ironing board they just simply don't have it. Front desk staff were not friendly with a terrible service and bad attitude from 18th century. So my recommendation: plan ahead and don't leave your reservation to locals. If you have to stay on this city (ANTOFAGASTA) stay away from this hotel. In my case, I will stay away of all dahoteles. Don't loose your time, money and peace. if you are a road warrior and you want to rest after a long day of work THIS IS NOT THE HOTEL for you.

Considering the fact that the offer in terms of hotels is not what you could rich, in this place of the world, Diego de Almagro hotel is okay. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are almost comfortable (if there would be no wobbling when turning from one side to another, I could call them quite comfortable). The staff is okay but they are not fluent in English.

We are driving through Chile, nothing booked in Antofagasta in the week (not recommended), this was the option we found. Room was quite big, comfortable, well kept and cleaned, facing the sea, what to complain about? Service. It was "yes sir, no sir" with that well trained smile. Internet was not working, it some time to convince that it was really not working. Breakfast typical of these "big" hotels, it looks big but it is tough to find something actually tasty.

I have stayed here twice during business trips to Antofagasta. The city has a very limited number of hotel rooms compared to the number of business travelers that are in and out of the city on a regular basis. If you don't book well in advance of your trip you will find yourself scrambling to find a room. As was my case. The rooms are old, the carpet is worn, the beds are old and not comfortable, the towels are dingy and thin from so many uses. Also, you will be lucky to get even warm water in the shower. If you have no other options at least it is a bed to sleep in and a secure hotel. I have stayed in worse.

We chose this hotel due to a colleague's recommendation - a mistake, and he won't ever be trusted again! The hotel is well located in front of the beach, although the extremely busy road dilutes the ambience of the location. My room ended up being a triple, so I was pretty happy with the amount of space on offer. It was clean - no problem there. Then, the problems began. The bed is soggy. Time it was replaced. A quick shower in the morning revealed warm water (not hot), which I didn't think too much about until later... Breakfast was ordinary. To be fair, breakfasts in Chilean hotels are generally tailored to Chilean tastes, but this is supposed to be an upmarket hotel and appears to cater for foreign visitors. Four varieties of cornflakes don't really make for an enjoyable breakfast for me. The scrambled eggs had run out. What I took to be orange juice turned out to be some horribly thick "nectar". There was no fruit available, unless you count the sultanas. My travelling companions (Chilean) were similarly unimpressed. Arriving back from work at the end of the day, the hot water had disappeared completely and was now only at the ambient temperature. When I went and spoke to reception, they said sorry, it's being repaired today and should be ready in about 30 minutes. Obviously it had broken down i n the morning and took all day to fix. There was NO communication from the hotel about this. We asked about using the pool. Uhhh sorry, it's being repaired too. For the price, this hotel represents poor value and we won't be returning. At half the price, the Ibis (at the back of this hotel) represents far better value, despite the smaller rooms.

My suggestion for all wants book one hotel in Antofagastal that don't choise this one. The service is very very terrible ( dirty room ,poor breakfast,expansive landry service and bad receptionist service). We stayed there one day and intend never to return.
