Van Der Valk Hotel Akersloot

Excellent hotel.

This was not our first time there so we did know what to expect. The only thing that ticked us off was having booked online you did not or were not offered a discount for staying multiple nights when they are being offered I the magazines left in the rooms. The staff was very curtious and friendly,well dressed and neat looking. We will definitely go back if we are privileged to return to the Netherlands.

Room was too warm. Not able to adjust the temperature.

On arrival, hotel looked busy - lots of people in bar / restaurant. Check in was easy, with staff helpful. However, on arrival to room, room was freezing (temperature outside -2) - bedroom heating was turned off and the room also had stale cigarette smell. I put the heating on high and went to the bar for an hour. On return to room, it was still chilly (and smelly). On arrival to room on second evening, again room was chilly. On my last morning, I used the swimming pool. There were no towels at poolside - had to go in the gym to obtain towels to use. The swimming pool is dated - lots of cracked / repaired tiles. Changing rooms were dirty and had broken benches - the whole pool area / changing rooms are in complete contrast with the rest of the hotel which is clean / well maintained / visually attractive. I did not use the gym, but it looked to be clean and had lots of machines / weights, etc and appeared well maintained. Breakfast was excellent - probably the highlight of the stay. Lots of choices - cooked breakfast including fried eggs, croissants, Danish pastries, pancakes, fruit / meat / cheese... Overall, it looks to be a good hotel, but too many things letting it down - room heating / swimming pool maintenance. Hotel is not easily accessible by train - either relying on lifts / taxis / own vehicle, won't be stopping here again.

All ok other than the long distance involved of getting to and fro. Allow 10 minutes to get to reception and restaurant if you are in one of the furthest away rooms! Room service was mentioned in the room info pack but not available for most rooms, I guess it would be cold by the time it reached you. Room spacious and comfortable with lovely big bath. Food in the restaurant was quite adequate and quickly served even though it was busy. WiFi was not particularly good (again this may have been due to the distance involved)

The best hotel we have ever stayed in. You got a real feeling of luxury, we stayed in a double queen bed comfort suite for the first 3 nights, jacuzzi bath and gorgeous rain shower. We decided we wanted to stay an extra night but there was no family rooms available so we had two standard rooms. Expecting them to be less plush, nope they were gorgeous. Breakfast is amazing and a must to set you up for the day ahead. We also had lunch and dinner on different days and was more than happy with the food and prices considering the standard of hotel. Service was top notch, couldn't do enough for you. Shame that leave of customer service isn't common place back home. Only a 19min drive from the beach, 30min from Ansterdam. Can't wait to book another trip. Came away feeling spoilt and pampered.

Booked a family room for 3 nights. The room smelled badly when we first entered the room. The radiator is covered in dust. The wardrobe has spider web. The drinking cup tray is dirty. The room looks like it wasn't cleaned properly. The house keeping staff acted as if they hadn't received proper training. The swimming pool looks dated and lack of maintenance. There was 2 power cuts and the staff blamed the area. Surprised the hotel doesn't have a backup generator. In any case the hotel doesn't match a 4 star standard.

A nice hotel. The reception was not always nice, and the breakfast is expensive. But in general it is a nice place to stay.

Very comfortable stay, good choice of menu and good breakfast selection.

My first impression was a classed up HoJo when I walked in the room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and A/C worked well. Restaurant was a little expensive, but had a good variety of food that was good.
