"Delicious food"

10.0

Tecnez is one of numerous restaurants on Dalyan waterfront. Probably not much to choose between them regarding the food served up, but the price is just a little bit better than most. We visited 3 times and could not fault them one bit. Chicken in clay pot, chicken casserole, Anatolia kebab and others were all very tasty and generous helpings. The same waiter was on service each time and was so friendly despite language differences. We also liked the setting as the tables are up off the river edge but with great views and in full view were the Kaunos tombs. Lit up at night this was a lovely setting. Bearing in mind the truly Turkish food has been adapted for tourism it is well worth a visit to see for yourself.

In a beautiful atmosphere and climate, we observed below average service, quality and hospitality. Although staff is very kind and giving, it was obvious that they had no eduction about hospitality sector.

"Dalyan 2022"

8.0

Fantastic Staff, very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was kept clean. Building and fittings looking a bit warn and tired and some attention needed around the pool grating, but I understand the hotel is due to be refurbished. I hope the atmosphere remains the same and the staff remain as friendly

"You get what you pay for."

6.0

This hotel is very basic, along with the amenities. we originally had a street view room which we moved from after one night due to a dead cockroach in the room and the dog barking all night, this was at an extra cost of £250. The rooms are cleaned daily in which they do a good job. Breakfast is Buffet style and very basic, this may be because it was the end of season. Again this may be due to end of season but the pool was not very clean and couldn't really go in it, I think the river may have been cleaner. Please don't get me wrong this will suit some people who want to use it as a base only, it would be perfect for them and you could not ask for a better location. My last two trips before this one was in a private villa where you have lazy pool days which is just my preference. I would not recommend this hotel for people with restricted mobility as we had to leave my daughters wheelchair downstairs as there are no lifts, luckily she could manage the stairs with help and we were only on the first floor.

Being the end of season, it seemed that they’d all but given up. The pool was filthy and on our penultimate day they put shovels full of quick lime into the pool. This was scattered all around the pool side with no warnings whatsoever! I asked the receptionist to move the hotel dog who was laid in it. The breakfast was poor and when something had run out on the buffet they weren’t prepared to replenish

"Poor service"

4.0

There is an abundance of accommodation in Dalyan so we chose Hotel Tezcan because of if it’s proximity to the tourist boats and market. However the lady on the front desk was very unhelpful and couldn’t get rid of us sooner! The man who checked is in was also unwelcoming! He just wanted to clear admin duties and send us to our rooms. When I queried about the location of their terrace (as seen in the photos) he said ‘There’s nothing to see there’ and told us to walk out the front of the hotel and head to the market. This is a shame as we could have spent a lovely evening sitting by the river instead of walking up and down the local market, which is full of souvenir shops and bars. This was our first time in Dalyan and so we wanted some information about transport to local hotspots such as Iztuzu Beach and Sulantniye Mud baths. The female receptionist wasn’t interested in helping us at all! She also told us to move our hire car (two hours before their 12pm check out policy) as the hotel was busy (check in is at 2pm). Detailing the extent out our conversation won’t be very helpful to others but I will say that this is the most helpful and disappointing service we have ever come across in our regular travels to Turkey. Basic, dated rooms but simple and fresh breakfast. We avoided the murky pool water and opted for beach time instead. Parking is limited and if you want to explore Dalyan by foot (recommended) then be prepared to be asked to park in the nearby school (weekends only) for a fee. For your information - Exit the hotel via the pool area and turn right. Walk for 2 minutes (past the private tour sellers) and you’ll see signs for the ‘co-op’ boat taxis, which cost 20tl return each. The boats are numbered and only depart when they have 10/12 passengers. It was a short wait but unrushed journey to Iztuzu. It’s a must do when in Dalyan. If you have a car then you can go to the ferry port (1km) away which fits 3 cars. It also takes foot passengers and takes about 20 seconds to cross the river! We paid 20tl in total to cross with our car and it was free (despite seeing signs displaying 5tl p.p) to enter the mud baths which is 1/2kms from the port. I don’t know what tour guides charge but it’s definitely a bargain if you do it yourself. Highly recommend Rodriquez bar/pub - they were really friendly - excellent service.
