A cozy hotel with a very interesting design, offering views of the water and nature—truly mesmerizing. The breakfasts are varied and delicious, featuring local delicacies. The room was large and spacious; it’s beautiful and affordable, just a 5-minute taxi ride from the city center and tourist attractions. I’d like to highlight the very polite and attentive staff, especially the manager, Roshan. He answered all my questions in detail, went out of his way to accommodate me, and helped with every request. When I needed help with the train to Ella, he found a website with all the information and personally told me everything he knew; he even called the train station himself to get all the details for me. I’m very grateful for such hospitality—it’s a pleasure and leaves me with fond memories 🙏🏼🫶🏼

Usually I write a review after my stay/vacation completes but for the very first time I am writing a review for a property on my very first night as I am extremely disappointed with my stay at Cinnamon Citadel Kandy. After traveling the entire night and driving straight from Colombo Airport to the hotel with my family, we requested an early check-in so we could get some rest. To our surprise, the hotel demanded USD 50 for just 4 hours of early check-in. (And I booked this property at around USD 75 per night). This was highly disappointing and showed very little consideration for exhausted international guests. Unfortunately, the experience only got worse. When we were finally allotted our room, the air conditioner was not working properly. Even after reporting the issue and having their staff attend to it, the cooling never improved, making the room quite uncomfortable. The room service was equally frustrating. Every in-room dining order required at least 2–3 reminder calls, and even something as basic as a bottle of water took nearly an hour to arrive. For a hotel that markets itself as a premium property, the service standards were far below expectations. Poor responsiveness, lack of guest empathy, and inefficient service made this a very disappointing stay. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

From check-in to check-out, everything was flawless. Having stayed at many hotels across Sri Lanka, I can confidently say this was my best stay yet. The staff deserve a special mention- they were exceptionally warm, friendly, and welcoming. Their genuine care for their guests made us feel truly valued and at home.
