Burythorpe House

Quiet, open fire , friendly staff. ALL Very accommodating. Shower was really powerful - even though shower head needed descaling. Bed very comfortable Grounds - tidy and peaceful. Food very good at breakfast and evening meals.

These are just things we noticed - they had nothing to do with the pleasure of our stay. Sadly main single colour carpet through house was a little worn in places / patched - may be better getting a berber - more hard wearing 😊 Perhaps needs a " freshen up" on paint work .

Fantastic hidden gem of a hotel. Takes you back in time. Beautiful grounds. Food was lvly. Staff very friendly. Amazing room with lvly views. Didn't want to leave. Will definitely return.

I booked this last minute for my partners birthday and we didn't arrive till about 8pm.. Tbh I struggled to even get there as a recent loss in the family has sent me into an unknown world of anxiety. When I received a text from Alison Gaskell I thought it was a sign as that is my Dads last name so I got sorted and went and it did not disappoint.. the place was welcoming from arriving in the car park, quiet and surrounded by nothing but nature 👌 the fire was burning in the lounge and the warmth hit us instantly as we opened the front door.. a lovely lad greeted us, offered to take our bags and showed us to our room.. it was on the top floor but worth it... the bed was so huge you could get lost and a roll top tub in the room was just awesome.. we had a kettle and the tv so we where set. I had mentioned that we wouldn't dine when we arrived but I was starving by the time we got there so I ordered room service.. Honestly Im 48 and I've never tasted steak like that in my life.. it was absolutely perfect, all of the food was delicious but that steak will stick in my mind for the rest of my days 😀 I slept like a log, breakfast was amazing the next morning and not too early cause it was a Sunday so suited us, my anxiety has disappeared and the power shower woke me up for our adventure ahead.. perfect stay all round and as we left I got a hug from Alison Gaskell who I chatted too for 20 minutes telling her about the coincidence 😉

Quiet, picturesque location. Clean, comfortable room. Friendly staff. Very good meals.

Room too hot for a while and we couldn't turn the radiater down.
