"Disappointing Stay at Springhill Suites Lake Charles – Poor Room Conditions and Hygiene"

My experience at Springhill Suites in Lake Charles was disappointing from start to finish. The lobby was welcoming and clean upon arrival, and the front desk staff were friendly. The elevator has been fixed since my last visit and no longer requires a call to the front desk for assistance. However, both elevators still produce alarming and strange noises, which was unsettling. Unfortunately, the room itself was in poor condition. As shown in the photos, there was visible mold in the grout, and the screws for the closet door closer were stripped. I also noticed a partially painted 2x4 supporting the HVAC unit, which seemed unprofessional, and the HVAC filter was missing entirely. Due to the housekeeping and room conditions, I shortened my stay and checked out after just three nights. I requested the front desk to replenish plastic cups and makeup remover wipes, but after returning from lunch, I found the room had been made up without fulfilling my request. The plastic cups were missing, there was no liner in the ice bucket, and the towels provided were tiny and threadbare. The ceiling had a patch that looked like an amateur drywall repair, and the sink in the toilet room was supported with caulk rather than proper fixtures. Additionally, the base molding in the room and bathroom had fallen off in multiple places, lying on the floor. Breakfast was only okay, but each morning, the fruit fly problem near the food, trash, and throughout the eating area worsened significantly. Overall, this was one of the worst Marriott stays I’ve had, even as a Titanium level member. I expect much better cleanliness and maintenance from a Marriott property.

I loved staying at Springhill Suites in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The hotel is very clean, and the way everything is set out makes getting around easy. Breakfast was good - waffles, muffins, cheese omelettes, coffee, various milks, oatmeal, packets of cereal, bacon, juices, bread. The very best thing was the staff. All the staff I met or passed in the halls, were very nice. They all said ‘Hi” or nodded. When we arrived the check in area was quite busy. The lady helping the new guests did very well. She didn’t panic or become agitated, but kept calm and got through all the check-ins. Our room had a very nice set up. There was a partition with a desk going halfway across the room for guests to use and for charging electronics. There was also a couch there. Very nice! All the other areas were laid out side by side. I really liked it. The television could have been larger. Overall I really liked staying at Springhill Suites. I will definitely stay here again. Thank you for being such nice people.
