Logis Hotel Du Chateau

Location to Combourg village/town with it's imposing stunning chateau above the hotel. The beautiful manmade fishing lake view from the hotel not our room I might add.  The difference species of wildlife spotted during our stay. The proximity to nearby Dinan, Saint Malo and Dinard coast. Nearby Campsite, & mobile lodges to stay at.  Quietness.  Plenty of amenities all within walking distance of the hotel The variety of bird song from our open window every morning quite loud as all competing with each other. It was like I had my own alarm clock.  Large window to open Room at rear of the building so didn't get overly hot Our room was cleaned unexpectedly day 2. Fan in wardrobe. Check out is 11 am although we didn't take advantage of the option One of the reception staff understands English and speak it quite well which is helpful.

No air con No fridge No tea/Coffee facilities in room Over priced rooms /food options Furniture in our room flat packed MDF with Ikea side lamp lights. Mine didn't actually work. Lack of electric sockets near bed. Bar area dark and uninviting Having to wait until 3 pm to check in when we believed the hotel wasn't fully occupied. No sense of urgency to assist in an earlier check in time. Staff on reception buried heads in laptops throughout our stay. Extremely off putting. Seemed like it was either end of year auditing. Nevertheless I would rather not see this as it made us feel like we were intruding. The shower head was missing a hook attachment on the upright pole. So difficult to shower easily. The Picture on the website had one. Only one scrappy old bed pillow. The mattress was well worn with a dip in the centre. The Duvet too thick for April & May. No mirror over desk / dressing table. Very small towels and lack of toilet paper for a 3 day stay all rectified once highlighted to reception but could have been avoided. This hotel is in desperate need of a total refurbishment as it's not rustic charm to me. Maybe some kind of entertainment program and much more welcoming staff /front of house who have an ambundance of hospitality skills. Room size too small for the price charged without breakfast. View from our bedroom window as there was an overgrown garden, broken tree branches just left where they fell from a huge overgrown unkept tree.

Location was excellent. The bathroom was large and well equipped.

There were no drink making facilities in the room. The top floor room had limited headroom due to the sloping roof. The twin beds were very narrow. We parked 2 motorcycles in the garage and were charged for 2 vehicles whilst only taking up about one car space.

Nice welcome by efficient staff. New owners since I last stayed a month ago, and they are delightful, really welcoming bringing a great new energy to the hotel. Lovely room, comfortable bed, view of lake. Good breakfast with lots of choice.

Disappointing that restaurant could not provide a proper vegetarian meal even with 24hr notice. I am sure things will improve soon under new management. Bathroom needs a bath mat.
