The Scott Arms

Room was large but really needs some TLC. Breakfast good evening meal OK. Great location with wonderful views but felt the overall cost was rather high coopered to the quality.

We had all four rooms and the feeling from all four of us was that they needed updating. My room had a problem with the sink not draining properly and one of the other rooms the seat was not fixed to the toilet. Nothing really drastic but for th price we paid expected better.

Breakfast was good BUT having been told that it’s only served between 8.45 and 9.30 we arrived at 8.55 and were served at 9.45. There were only 8 people for breakfast.

We arrived on Friday afternoon and were shown to our room called ARNE. We left our bags and went straight out without really looking round the room. We returned in the late evening . I noticed some spiders in the bathroom but couldn’t do anything about it at that time. Daylight revealed the very dusty room and bathroom. Everything was covered in thick dust , including the kettle and tray and its contents, and the carpet did not look as if it had been vacuumed. There were eight spiders in the bathroom. Before we went out, later than we had hoped because of the delay at breakfast, I asked the member of staff who had served our breakfast, politely, if the spiders could be removed from the bathroom and could the kettle and coffee tray be cleaned. I didn’t complain, I asked politely . We returned that evening and I was very surprised that this had not been done. We had seen two members of staff downstairs as we came in and I went to tell them that the room was still dirty and the spiders were still in residence. Geoff(?) then went up to our room and removed the extra residents. He could see just how dirty the room and bathroom were and apologised. It looked as if the room had not been used for some time and had not been prepared for us. I understand that it is an old building but that is not an excuse for dirt. The room obviously needs decorating but that was not the issue . I would expect better conditions for the price.

The pub is quirky with a good selection of ales. Food and staff are amazing. The view from the garden is wonderful.
