Candlewood Suites Decatur Medical Center by IHG

Have always stayed at IHG when traveling to visit family. This is the LAST IHG time. Hotel parking was almost none existent due to exterior painting; no baggage carts requiring 9 trips from car to room, and NO AC in Texas. While not dirty, property was not clean.

Conveniently located to the highway and to the Eagles Canyon Raceway. Not the newest facility but spacious and in largely good condition. Has a few BBQs and some tables outside which worked well for my group needing to have a space to congregate. Bummed that there was no breakfast included, but otherwise it met my needs for sleeping accommodations.

Nice size room. Bathroom was a little awkward in that you had to go in and close the door to use the counter space and sink area. Bed was noisy to get up and sit down on.

Everything was awesome, except the bed too hard!

Rooms were clean and staff was friendly and professional. Did not like that there was no breakfast yet.

The hotel itself was very clean & staff was friendly. $25 deposit for “damages” upon arrival not disclosed. Most places simply take a card number, not actually charge you. The room was in poor repair. Chair in the room worn & upholstery had the top layer worn off. Toilet seat was loose & would slide to the side when you sat on it. Didn’t realize until I got in the shower that the bulk hair conditioner & bath soap dispensers were totally empty. Followed refrigerator ice maker instructions…no ice but could hear water run frequently. No idea where it was going. Biggest issue…room air freshener used was awful. These things don’t typically bother me but this was so bad that I had to keep working dow open all night. Won’t book here again mainly because of the “refundable” damage deposit & air freshener.

Fairly pleasant stay. Check in was quick & easy, although on door key didn’t work & required reprogramming. Room was very clean. Peaceful & quiet. Pillows with unique soft & firm embroidery. Made choosing the perfect pillow so easy. Comfortable beds & wonderful overlapping blackout curtains. Used instructions on refrigerator door to turn on ice maker, no ice ever made despite hearing the ice maker fill several times. Recliner chair in the room was very worn. Toilet seat so loose that it slipped side to side when used. I greatly appreciate hotels with the wall shampoo, conditioner & soap dispensers…except when they are bone dry empty. Something you don’t exactly notice until you get in the shower. Awful strong air freshener used. Necessitated keeping window open. Scents do not typically bother me but this was exceptionally strong. I won’t be back to this hotel due to no disclosure when booking & paying in advance through a 3rd party app that a $25 damage fee is charged upon checking in. Not a hold your card number but an actual fee charged & told it will be refunded in 7-10 business days.

We were passing through on a trip and I chose it because it allowed dogs. I could tell it was a little older hotel but it was surprisingly clean, we were very pleased. We ordered and picked up dinner from Sweetie Pies on the town square, which was delicious and the town square was super cute.
